Amdipoline side effects

Anyone had adverse side effects from this drug? I was on Bisoprolol for 6+ years for high BP and had no probs. Then had an SVT/cardio version in December followed by a catheter ablation. Put on this new medication and have swollen ankles, face flushing, pounding in chest and then feeling cold and shaky. Thanks.

Yes Karen63A I had exactly the same problems as you..Now on 50 mgs of losartan. This is a very common side effect with Amlodapine.

I had swelling around ankles and a rash on shins from amlodipine.

Now I am on hydralazine 25 mg 4 times a day. For high blood pressure. Has anyone had experience with hydralazine? Would love to hear from you

I had swollen ankles and feet when on Amlodipine. Now on diltiazem with no problems so far.

Thank you everyone. In some ways it’s reassuring to know these are common side effects . I’m sorry you’ve all had similar experiences. Knowing there are other options is helpful.

Amlodopine is a calcium channel blocker for reducing blood pressure and peripheral odeama (swelling of feet and ankles etc ) is not an unknown side effect. I can not take such drugs if I want to wear shoes and socks. Speak to your doctor soon as there are alternative treatments.

Call to GP. Reduced Amlopodine to 5mg and added Ramipril 1.25 mg. I need to send in a weeks worth of BP readings and then have a blood test. Glad I called and remain hopeful this may help. Thanks for advice.

Prompted by your Amlodipine post. Watch out for impact on Thyroid from Amiodarone. Whilst hospitalised in Georgia USA in 2013 ( 2 surgeries and a DVT) a cardiologist identified my depleted Thyroid Function in relation to my long term use of Amiodarone which he deemed to be "Long term Toxic". I am now a life long user of Thyroxine. I have taken to reading the notes in the medicine boxes and refer to Dr Google, in the interests of being my own best advocate.

Yes had terrible swollen legs didn't like that drug had it changed by my doctor.

Used Amlodipine for several years. No problem whatsoever until my cardiologist took it off me due to improved pressure readings.

I have swelling of feet ankle and lower legs. Also, as couple of times weakness.
