Hi Has anyone changed from taking their bisoprolol dose from morning to night and how
should I change over . I take2.5 mg in morning but find that at night I have ectopics and all of my episodes occur during night or early mornings. My GP suggests that I try taking the dose at night . My pulse is usually between 45 - 55 with no side effects. I also take 100 mgs flecainide twice a day .

Thank you that’s interesting because a 24 hour tape also noted my heart rate dropping to 38 during the night which makes me reluctant now to take the dose at night which makes it difficult to get a happy medium ☹️
I did, about some 10 years ago. When I was originally diagnosed with AF the Cardio Consultant put me on it and warfarin. 5 mg to be taken in the morning.
Initially it worked very well, however, after my return to work driving buses I developed random, and at times violent nose bleeds.
I knew intuitively that it was not Warfarin or any other drugs I was on at the time ....... just knew inside myself. Went back to my GP, and she said, take it at night.
I think from memory I had already taken my morning dose at that moment so I didn't take the evening dose until the evening of the next day.
I have had no problems with it at all ever since, like, we are just best mates.
Prior to AF my average HR was around 88 bpm ( near the top of the normal range). Now Bisoprolol holds it steady at around 64 to 67 bpm.
However, about three times a year for no reason I can think of it drops to around 44 to 46 bpm. I usually go to bed with a hot water bottle, have a mug of hot sweet coffee, and put my electric blanket on - I heat up, sleep for a few hours and wake up with my HR back to normal. I feel crap after this process but soon feel back to normal.
I wear a Garmin Tracker 24/7 and it has alerts for low and high HR's.
Yeah, I know hot water bottles and electric blankets not a good combination
At my worst I was on 10mg a day with Dronedrone or Flecanide at various points. I foumf the fatigue from the high dose was impacting my morning and I was sluggish all day. So I tried to swap it to night time. But I felt it wasn't as effective at controlling my rate.
Logically, I was taking it at 8pm just to lie down and go to sleep, which meant by 8am when I was getting up and about and active and needing that rate control, I was 12 hours into the dose and it perhaps wasn't as effect as it was if I'd taken it at 8am before I started getting "busy".
I took 2.5mg in the morning, but felt it made me lightheaded in the day so now take 1.25mg morning and night and that way I’m OK with the dose. It’s very much a personal drug in respect that what works for one may not for another.
Hi, I am on 5mg that I take in the morning. I'm on my third week and the side effects: dizziness, light-headed and fatigue are easing a little and I'm not nodding off in the evening so much now.
My resting HR was about 95 and the Bisop has brought that down to about 80 which I still think is way too high.
I too was wondering what the impact would be by taking it at night but am worried that the HR lowering effects may not be as good.
I am on 10mg Bisoprolol with a high dose of Digoxin, 312.5mcg. I used to take it at night but with the max doses, (17.5mg Biso) I dropped to 10mg and changed to the morning, I was not dealing with it at that time of the day.
I now take first thing in the morning. In my case I think it works, ie I have a life routine which tolerates the dose and the way I take it. Still drop off to sleep quite regularly, but overall feel better. 5 years like this.
