I will shortly be having a cardioversion aided with flecainide 2 x 100 per day - taken 3 days before treatment and then for some time after not specified - on reading the instructions on usage it does not say to be taken with or without food and it suggests that first dosage should be administered in hospital - nothing of which has been mentioned to me - any thoughts please as it’s rather bothersome not knowing the correct thing to do - many thanks

Flecainide
I’m not medically trained so it’s best to check with a pharmacist but it’s my understanding that it should be taken on an empty stomach. Although it does say it should be first taken under medical supervision, from what we hear here, it rarely happens and that was also my experience.
Thanks for writing- yes both these points ring a bell with me too
This worked well for me. Saved me from a third ablation, so far. Always so far.
I always take mine on an empty stomach - 30 or 60 minutes before eating if possible. It seems to be a moot point about taking it before / after eating. However IMO it's better acting on an empty stomach - more of a 'hit' for your heart.
Flex has worked well for many afibbers on this forum - myself included. I wouldn't go as far as saying it's a wonder drug but I will say it can be very effective for many with little side effects.
Hope it works for you.

Advice I was given by pharmacist was either 1hr before food or 2 hrs after. This ensures best absorption
