I had a SVT catheter ablation 3 days ago and an AVNRT was identified/ablated. I was told to stop my 6.25mg bisoprolol 5 days prior to the procedure and then advised by the Consultant (after the op), that I didn't need to take them anymore.
I am not sure if any symptoms I'm experiencing are related to the procedure or the withdrawal from bisoprolol. Seeing my EP in 6 weeks.
Anyone had similar experiences?

We are not medically trained Karen, but we frequently hear from medics that it is best to be weaned of betablockers over weeks rather than days. Your dose is fairly high and I would have thought the effects of just stopping could be causing problems for you. If I were you, I would ring your EP’s secretary or the Arrhythmia Nurse and make them aware. Betablockers are powerful drugs and have a significant impact on reducing blood pressure and heart rate so I suggest you seek clarification as soon as possible......
Thank you. I will contact the arrhythmia nurse today. We are not medically trained as you say, but I guess we rely on the experts that are, to give us the best advice.
You don't say what your symptoms are I would have thought you would have had some reaction 3 days ago as you had stopped 2 days before your procedure Agree with Flapjack about getting advice
Thank you. I seem to be having the symptoms expected after the procedure. Extreme fatigue, anxiety, tight chest now and then, palpitations periodically. I stopped meds 5 days before the procedure so it's now 8 days without them. I'm waiting for my EPs secretary to get back to me.
Chris, were you advised to stop after the procedure? May I ask what your symptoms are now? Hoping you'll get some helpful advice on this forum. Maybe wise to contact your EP or arrhythmia nurse. Keep me posted Chris.
Hi Karen I was told to stop them after the preceeding too.
I've started to get a pulsating feeling near my breast bone and a cough. I phones 111 last night as it went on for a long time. They sent an Ambulance which I'm sure I didn't need. They did all the heart checks and said i could be gastro related
Sounds like you did the right thing Chris. It can feel quite scary when you dont know whats going on. I'm a bit confused you were told it may be gastro related. Can you contact your EP for advice?
I've also been coughing which is a strange coincidence.
I hope you get some answers and start to feel better soon.
I have a nurse who I can phone. If honest the EP who did the ablation wasn't too helpful at the time. I think he thought mine was going to be a quick one but took 3 hours. I could hear him say to the nurses I want my lunch. I was thinking I need a pee lol
Blimey, that’s a bit unprofessional of him. I must admit, my EP didn’t give me much time to ask anything. I hope your arrhythmia nurse can reassure you.
