Palpitations after cardioversion

Hi my cv was successful after two shocks on Thursday however I’m getting really strong palpitations like ones I’d have with af. I’m not in af I don’t think .My Apple Watch has not showed af notifications prior to this it was all time also ecg after cv showed everything ok.

I’m still on all medications prior to cv which is amiodarone, frusomide spironactalone, diltizem, losartan and rivaoxaban so could it be one of the drugs causing it? I’m feeling them constantly.

My heartbeat has dropped I’m guessing that’s tablets. My feet still swollen in the morning.

Anyone else have this and eventually goes away ? I’m trying breathing exercises in the hope that might get rid .

I've had very many dccvs and never experienced palpitations in the following days irregular or otherwise .

I would suggest that you get an ECG at your surgery to ascertain what is going on. Could you be back in AF....can your Apple device detect this?

PS

Reading through your post again, if your heart beat is regular and slower, I wonder if you are just being hyper aware of your heart beat?? We are most of us guilty of that at some stage...

I’m trying to ignore it ha ha I’ll give it till next week see if it goes so far Apple Watch hasn’t showed it so that’s why I’m thinking can’t be af. Hope it’s just a blip

I had cardioversion which worked on the third shock. Felt great after, apart from the burns from the defib stickers. On day three I was woken in middle of night with tremendous palpitations which lasted pretty much all day then settled that evening. Went back into afib soon after. I'm in constant afib and have been since massive PE last year. They left it six months before doing cardioversion. Fingers crossed for you, just be prepared that it may not turn out as you would like.

Ahhh thank you for reply my first one didn’t last long in November an hour if that. Fingers crossed this goes away.

Hi,

The drop in heart rate is probably because you are now in NSR.

As for the palpitations, I still feel them every now and then almost 3 years after having an ablation.

Everyone has palpitations/ ectopic beats, they are perfectly normal. The difference is that us AFers feel them.

I now take a magnesium supplement which has reduced them to a great extent. Some days I feel one or two, other days I can feel several an hour

Hi thankyou mikee69 I went to docs as they are very strong and happening a lot. Doc used a Kardia it’s showed he said some blip before the p wave didn’t understand that, but wasn’t in af. Said give it a week then get in touch with hospital. He said my hearts erratic but it’s top chambers so that’s ok and he said it’s not dangerous as I’m taking anti coagulants.

Now going to look into magnesium I’ll try that. Thankyou

Sadly it’s back

Woke up last night with a jump checked Apple Watch knew by looking at heart rate it was back . It had gone much higher and through night had the usual af notifications were back.

Ahh well lasted 4 days this time !
