Golden Milk

My husband has developed an arthritic hip and is keen to try golden milk. It is a mixture of turmeric, ginger, black pepper, non dairy milk and honey. It can also have cinnamon added. I'v got an arthritic knee in addition to AF, and he's keen for me to take it as well. I'm a bit dubious. I'm on rivaroxaban, 2.5mg bisopropolol, Ramipril and Lanzoprazole. I already drink a cup of ginger tea and a glass of ginger beer every day and have ginger marmalade for breakfast (on toast, not on it's own!). I do like ginger! Does anyone know if the addition of golden milk is likely to have any interactions with my drugs? Would it be too much ginger?

Caution,if you are on anti coagulants ginger and.tumeric increase the effect of the meds.

Please don't. Many of the things you mention can seriously affect anticoagulation and I'm sure you dont want uncontrolled bleeding.

Be aware that turmeric works like an anti coagulant, so shouldn’t be taken in large quantities when on Riveroxaban! I stopped having Golden Milk when I started an anti coagulant.

I would avoid this. Here's a salutary tale: "Adding Herbal Products to Direct-Acting Oral Anticoagulants Can Be Fatal":

This man had just started taking a boiled mixture of cinnamon and ginger. He was given reversal agents, but this didn't stop the gastrointestinal bleeding and he died 3 days later.

Take Eliquis ... no dietary restrictions.

It's in the same group of drugs as rivaroxaban, which I take. The same issues apply. consumerlab.com/answers/sup...

Why is it that there are no dietary restrictions on the Eliquis website other than fishoil and aspirin? I do use reservatrol, stopped taking fishoil and aspirin.

I’d do a bit of research on turmeric if I were you, as it contains coumarins, which are anticoagulant and could potentially have interaction with rivaroxaban- I guess it will also depend on how much of it you have too though.
