The odd thing is I don't like carbonated drinks at all but it had to be fizzy and the suggestion was coca cola.which I never drinkSo for me as someone who likes ginger I opted for ginger beer and now I quite like it and will stop taking the ppis
Suggest, however tempting, not a cold one as one of my two short AF episodes in 8 years was caused by gulping down a cold ginger beer on a hot day but then I have a sensitive Vagus Nerve.
Ginger is an excellent way to address digestive distress. Micheal Moseley mentions it in his book Clever Gut. Something to do with moving things on if they've got backed up in the gut. Used ginger tea myself the other day for exactly this purpose.
I make my own with grated ginger and a bit of honey or maple syrup. Mentioned in my acid reflux book too. Really good book btw. My own long-term term reflux under control now with dietary changes and courtesy of Gaviscon Advance.
I know it was strange had you be taken with a fizzy drink definitely not orange or lemon juiceI ll go look at the name of it I had to take it for a week and stop statins as well
So, I'm curious what brand of ginger beer? There are some wide variations in quality here in the UK. I've used crystallised ginger (candied ginger?) for seasickness when I had a sailing boat years ago. Excellent cure and very palatable mixed with nuts and dried fruit for nourishment when not feeling well.
I buy bunderberg ginger beer the diet kind for me though they do normal I think its made in Australia it's got a very strong ginger taste and best drunk at room temperature
Im going to try the other suggestions though because fizzy drinks are not really my thing
Ginger is well known to be good for the stomach. I can't drink anything fizzy at all so I make a cup of ginger tea; like making ordinary tea with milk and sugar but I wouldn't use it as the only thing to protect my stomach from drug damage. I take famotidine which is not a PPI.
