The nausea started with heart meds but is not getting better in fact it's worse due to anxiety over my husband's heart condition. I find ginger oat biscuits help, pukka ginger tea and ginger beer. I've stopped using sweetners and have cut out most dairy products other than semi skimmed in my coffee ( one a day). It's the same type of nausea I had 55 years ago when I had my first son but rule out pregnancy at 77! Its making me feel miserable as it's constant 30 minutes after every meal and stays till the next meal. It's making my diet difficult. But I'm craving oranges!

Any help with nausea?
You really need to seek medical advice to find out the cause, as it's certainly not right. What heart meds are you taking? Someone may be able to say that they made them feel the same.
Jean
Thank you Jean. I'm taking it seriously as it's gone on long enough. I'm trying the changes to my diet and ginger tea etc over the weekend then will see what it's like. The other thing I have is a hiatus hernia which used to trouble me years ago so it may be that. Although I read that some of my meds cause nausea I feel that it's exacerbated by the anxiety I'm feeling for my husband. It's good when others take you seriously. You don't feel like a wimp.
Do you take any antacid medication? If not you might try Ranitidine which is available OTC. I don't suggest this instead of taking medical advice but if it helps it might help with the diagnosis especially as eating seems to cure it temporarily. Frequent snacks instead of larger meals might also help.
No I don't take antacid as I don't get reflux or acid. I was wondering if there was an over the counter remedy I could try so thanks. I'm annoyed I've put up with so long assuming that it is heart medication. If it is I need to deal with it. Thank you for your help.
Dear, be careful with ranitidine. It could cause certain side effects in elderly people taking it, like confusion and memory issues. Plus one of the known side effects of ranitidine is nausea.
And arrhythmias? This from Wikipedia
Btw, could it be dyspepsia? Or could be a gastric issue. Is it better?
I had a period of feeling sick and had stomach pains whilst taking loads of AF medications.
I blamed all of them, and changed/stopped them with my EPs help. However the problems did not resolve.
My GP said it was anxiety.
Then I had an episode of chest pain, ambulance crew thought I may be having a heart attack but ECG was normal.
Rushed to A and E and discovered I had gall stones.
3 months later, gallbladder removed, no more sickness.
Try cutting out all fatty foods for a while and see if that relieves things
I’m in a similar situation, been on various meds for years now. Ablation last year, but in the last month I am getting a really bad nausea feeling when I wake up. It’s a bad hangover feeling. But, it’s making me feel awful. I went to the Dr and they said I had an ear infection. 2 courses of antibiotics and it cleared up, but the nausea hit me this morning really hard. In fact as I’m typing this I feel like going back to bed. I’m also getting fluttering in my chest, but when I feel my pulse or take an ECG it’s normal, so this must be subconscious anxiety! Which in some ways is harder to overcome surely?
Well I’m on health cleanse at the moment, I’m doing anything and everything to reduce occurrences so I’m on a big health push and diet changes.
Wow! That’s the last thing I’d have thought of causing nausea and sickness etc!
Thank you. I'm sure it's a combination of things and anxiety has increased since told husband's pacemaker has 6 months of battery life and they are unlikely to replace it. I'm a lot better since drinking ginger tea and cutting out milk. I did think of gall stones but don't eat fried food, butter or cheese much however we had fish and chips this week and I felt worse afterwards so could it be? I shall make appointment to see g.p. which could be 2 or 3 weeks and keep food diary of episodes.
Sorry to hear of your problems.
Fish and chips was a big no no for me when I had gallstones. The pain it bought on was excruciating.
I didn't eat much fried food either. And my cholesterol is low. Gallstones are bought about from an imbalance in the gastric zone iirc
Unlikely to replace pacemaker battery ??
Involves travel to other hospital and anaesthetic which they won't do because he is frail. They always measure by % of recovery. His fraction of blood from ventricle is about 5%. So his heart failure is now severe. A year ago the cardiologist wanted to withdraw medication and deactivate defib but another stepped in and put him on Digoxin which has given him another year but I'm aware that we are going to run out of things to do at some point.
