Hello All! It’s been a while. I write here for my mother who is now 93 hrs old. She’s had AF for over 30 yrs now. She went into end stage congestive heart failure the beginning of this year, so her doctor put her on Hospice. They are giving her comfort care now and she is actually doing a bit better. Not able to do much, but holding her own and is still somewhat independent in her own home. She can only walk a few feet and she’s tired and can’t breathe well, but she’s still getting around.
She also has a pacemaker and the battery is going to be running low soon. So we are at the point of whether she will want a new pace maker. Her pace maker keeps her heart from slowing down to under 60 beats a minute. Before the pacemaker, her heart was going down to 35 beats per minute and she was passing out. If it weren’t for the PM, she probably would have passed in her sleep one night. So now, we are looking at a possible new pacemaker or not. The PM won’t cure her chf or a fib. But that’s our story. I have been her caretaker for 8 yrs now. From 85 yrs old to 93 yrs old. Long time. It’s been a slow winding down to this point. But she’s still here - even with constant a fib now.
