My husband went to have an internal heart monitor routinely checked on Monday, it’s been in place for several years with nothing much to report. 10am Monday he phones and tells me they are keeping him in and fitting a pacemaker! After an awful lot of ups and downs and not being able to visit, he text me at 5am Thursday to say he tested positive for covid and was now in isolation! As you can imagine my brain was running riot with all sorts of ‘what if? ‘ scenarios!!! Not only did he have a heart rate going so low it was almost stopping, but he now has covid - But they still did the op at 4pm yesterday, and by 20 to 8 he was home and tucked up in the garden office in isolation. My point of this story is that despite the emotional rollercoaster and fear, there was no AF episodes, my blood pressure is even better! Possibly the relief that they have finally found and addressed the issues with his fainting episodes. Thank you for reading. 🤗

So pleased for you - for you and that all turned out well for your husband. It seems that half the country (literally) has or has had in the last few weeks COVID but is less symptomatic so hopefully he will recover soon.
My Pacemaker gave mine a new lease of life so hope your husband’s QOL is similarly improved.
I hope his QOL is too, all the signs were there the last couple of months but he is stubborn and shrugged everything off as work pressure! He retires end of March, so good timing. Thank you X
I know where you are coming from. Last April my husband’s heart rate went down to 29. Doctor called ambulance who administered adrenaline just to keep him going long enough to get to hospital. Pacemaker fitted and all is now well. My AF stayed very quiet throughout the episode thank goodness x
Yes, his was down to 20 over night on the wards, so they kept waking him up, bless. Thankfully, all done, I have passed him an egg sandwich and flask of coffee through the window and am off to shop for treats for him now x
Tilly at least you know now that stress doesn't cause your AF. What a time you and your husband have had! Hope his bout of Covid will be brief and he'll soon be well enough to come back into the house.
Thank you. I was surprised it didn’t trigger af! But my son is staying with us and I think that helped as he is getting me to cook my healthy meals more healthy 🤣 ie very little gluten and less protein. X
When I am in AF my hr rarely goes very low - extremely erratic, but not excessively low. However, if it happens again I will pay more attention to see if it does, thank you x
No AF after that, excellent, but beware it doesn't bite back when you can finally relax. Wind down slowly rather than collapsing into a chair when everything under control and your son goes back. Even consider taking something light on as an extra.
Thank you for the excellent advice. I haven’t had an AF episode since I came off bisoprolol 2/3 months ago (yay!) and luckily my son isn’t moving until middle of feb. (to Vienna!) but I will be careful. X
That garden office came in useful! I hope the heater worked well with the low temperatures this week!
I think he'll be sorted now. Thank goodness covid has morphed into the omicron variant, I say. It really does seem to be milder for the majority of people. Did he pick it up while in hospital?
Yep, probably he did. They test morning and evening and allowing for roughly a 3 day incubation, I reckon he picked it up on Monday in the hospital. But who knows? We got through the whole pandemic without getting it 🤣 He is just feeling a. It sore at op site and a bit wooly headed probably from covid. This too shall pass x
It will, and without further event, hopefully. Is he still isolating? That office has proved its worth, that's for sure.
My brother's family have all had it this past two weeks, he and his wife being unvaccinated, sadly, but all seems well despite that. They're not fully over it but it seems more like a bad cold than anything else. In fact, we've both had a very much worse cough and cold since well before Christmas, and still not fully resolved, that wasn't covid. There seem to be all kinds of nasty bugs around.
Yes, as I understand it he still has to isolate for 10 days? He spends most of his life in his office, as he listens to music and watches tv out there in the evenings/weekends . He retires end of March ! X
He is an old sound engineer - used to go on the road with bands like Thin Lizzy. Way before I met him, so music is a big part of his life. He does come out and spend time with family, and we walk on the beach as much as can. When he retires, there will be more time as his job is demanding - or I hope we will share more tone together 🤣🥰 x
Has he tested today? Our great grandson tested positive last Sunday. One very poorly little boy. Tested negative today. 🤸🏻♂️ Second negative test and he’s out! xx
Fingers crossed for your husband. Things seem to be turning out well now despite such a scare for you. Hopefully your husband's covid symptoms will be mild, and the pacemaker will do the trick.
