EP ADVICE

Hi. My husband is looking for an EP in the Birmingham/Midlands area? He has persistent AF. He is on Bisoprolol, Apixaban & BP meds. He’s not under any cardiologists at present. He is willing to go privately.

Is there anyone who could advise please?

Ally

Hi sorry but have no recommendations but can I just ask does the Bisraprol not control the AF at all?

Our BP monitor & the Kardia always registers arrhythmia & possible AF, which it would with persistent AF, so the Bisoprolol isn’t probably doing the job it should? His HR is never below top 80’s.

May I ask what strength is he on for bisraprol?

Professor Osman at UHcw (Walsgrave) very good but very busy..ablation waiting list 12 to 18 months.....Leicester Glenfield centre of excellence not so busy. Private appointment with proff O is £175 inital appointment..half an hour ..within days, then he transfers you to nhs.If you then want to see him again in the interim its £100. Very amenable and has a good reputation.I have been very happy with his care.

Birmingham has a very good reputation too. PM me if you like..Im in Warwickshire xx

That’s great thanks for your advice x

If you're going private, I'd really recommend Dr Howard Marshall who's very experienced. He's with BMI. I've been with him for 15+ years and had 2 ablations done by him (at the QE), one private, one NHS.

I see Dr Joseph De Bono. I saw him privately at The Priory, Edgbaston for a while and then he transferred me to his NHS list at the QE. I haven't any experience of ops / procedures as I have complications with other comorbidities that prevented me having an ablation and am now in permanent AF so no point having one now but he is very nice and very supportive.

I am also under the care of Dr de Bono (& Dr Howard Marshall is also part of the "team") Do take a look at the - Birmingam Heart Rhythm Group website Based at the Priory but, as already mentioned they both work at the Birmingham QE Hospital which is a centre of excellence.
