Have You Heard of “Grounding” or “Earthing”?

I have been “grounding” - “earthing”, and as weird as it sounds, since starting it, my heart’s been a little calmer, lower my blood pressure by 3 points so far with no other changes. Psychological- maybe? But it seems to work for me.

If you are familiar with grounding, please let me know your experiences with it.

Basically, be barefoot on the ground for at least 30 minutes a day.

Here is an excerpt from one article:

“1. Your body runs through a type of electrical current. As the Journal of Environmental and Public Health states:

It is an established, though not widely appreciated fact, that the Earth’s surface possesses a limitless and continuously renewed supply of free or mobile electrons. The Earth’s negative charges can create a stable internal bioelectrical environment for the normal functioning of all body systems which may be important for setting the biological clock, regulating circadian rhythms and balancing cortisol levels.

2. Your body is naturally able to absorb electrical charges from the earth since your skin acts like a “conductor.” Your feet, specifically certain points in the balls of your feet, are believed to be especially good at receiving the earth’s electricity.

But because of our modern way of living — for example, always wearing shoes and living most of our lives above ground in our homes or offices that are located several floors up in tall buildings — we’re losing touch with the earth’s natural “electrical” force.

3. “The human body is electrical first and chemical second,” according to earthing expert Clint Ober. The brain, heartbeat and neurotransmitter activity, for example, all rely on electrical signals, so when our electricity if off, so can be certain aspects of our health.

The idea is that by being in touch with the planet, the electrical force coming off the earth is able to help lower inflammation and fight free radicals. In fact, the term “earthing” has even earned a patent as a natural method for reducing disease-causing inflammation.”

Carneuny- I had to repost to add more info and your wonderful response just went away! I am so very sorry. But I appreciate reading about your barefoot opportunities, and the adorable, yet hilarious, older cat! Thank you for your response. I am so sorry to have not been able to retrieve it.

It doesn't matter how often it's discussed, as new people are always joining the forum. It's a fascinating subject.

I always walk around barefoot at home and we have solid wood or stone floors, not carpet, and I usually go out to the reycling bin such .(Not so comfortable on the gravel as grass I might add). I have still have had arrhythmias!

That said you are what you think. I'm positive it won't have a negative affect (sorry about that couldn't resist it) . Going to volt over the wall and go ohm now,

ditto, March until October I am bare footed pretty much all the time, and have been for years. Used to be a surfer/wind surfer and since then I hate wearing shoes. It's made no difference, still went in to AF standing on a beach barefoot

Sounds like a good idea however what do you do about it in the winter time I have enough trouble just trying to keep them warm in the summer!😯

Hello AD,

Most times our bodies possess electrical potential. I.e. voltage measured against the earth (the soil). I am unsure of the actual implications for human health, but it makes sense to earth/ ground instruments, hence perhaps us too.

Shoes, gloves are generally insulating, even voltage generating materials. Walking barefooted on a wet ground, or holding metal connected to the ground will allow the voltage to discharge, thus dissipate this electrical energy. Holding a metal tap may also do the job. However, you should conduct a measurement first. There are plastic materials used (Teflon tape, etc) which may actually insulate the earth connection from the metal you are holding.

Of course, there also should be a good earth connection in your power socket. I would not recommend using this, without a qualified person ensuring that it really is a good, ‘clean’ earth and then providing a safe access point for you to hold. A metal spike in the ground, connected to a handle, bed will do the job safely and well.

Standing, playing in a shallow, wet ground hole will do very nicely too, invite a friend (-:

Best wishes J

Wow!!! That’s deep physicist stuff! Thanks!

I used to walk barefoot until the plantar facititis played up (at least it's not my knee pain) now I wear arch supports.

We don't have real grass at home, its all concrete, so I don't tend to be barefoot outside.

I did enjoy walking on the beach in Yorkshire barefoot though.

Good stuff, have got Ober's book, brilliant. If you think for yourself like me, this is why the powers that be built churches on Ley Lines to disrupt the energy flow & attempt to control our lives even more. Remember you were and are a spiritual being before religion was even invented to control us, THEY do not want us to think for ourselves or even think....Love and light to you and good health. Am going to arrhythmia conference in October to speak to other sufferers, take care.
