Has anyone had severe leg cramps coming off bisoprolol. Dr now has me doing every other day to wean off. Resting heart rate is around 90 to 100 now and getting up and moving around is anywhere from 110 to 130. Is this all normal? How long do the withdrawal symptoms last? Thank you

I didn't have the leg cramps, but I did have terrible palpitations, so bad that I nearly decided to keep taking the stuff.

My HR was quite raised like yours when I first came off, and after a HR of 40-50 it did feel like something was wrong.

It took a good 10 days or so for things to settle down, my HR now is in the 60-70 range.

Still get palps, but not so many.

Just a case of riding it out I think, but if you have any concerns, best phone your GP or EP

May I ask why you came off bisoprolol? I took 1,25mg twice a day since August 2018 and felt very tired and my breathing, I thought, was worse (I am on 4litres oxygen when moving around). A month or so ago my doctor and consultant said OK to change to nevibolol (recommend by lots of people on this site) but it gave me slight diarrhoea and diarrhoea pains in my tummy. My local GP said go back to bisoprolol but only 1,25mg once a day, which I have done. My heart rate is still down to 85bpm or so although I think I am still feeling very tired, so have been wondering if I should stop taking bisoprolol (or alternatively ask the pharmacist if there is something which would give me more energy etc).

Also, how do you measure your heart rate? I find my oximeter is not very exact. Could you recommend a reliable oximeter? I use my blood pressure monitor once or twice a day which also shows heart rate.

Santamedical Generation 2 Fingertip Pulse Oximeter Oximetry Blood Oxygen Saturation Monitor from amazon is what we used when I was an EMT. also fitbit charge matches up well with the results. coming off after I had surgery to remove bad parathyroid gland which were giving me tachycardia among other problems. I just didn't realize it was so difficult to come off of it.
