AF
It's a scary condition. Ask any questions you want here and read all you can on the forum to help you, there is always someone around to support, you are amongst understanding friends.
Hi Meadfoot. It is a good site. When I read how other folk manage can be inspirational, and scary. I read then become a little more scared, and I begin to think "what if, and could I go down that path?". My life is so much different now. Best wishes, kind regards. Ed.
We plod along Ed, keep our minds busy, do our best to keep our bodies as healthy as possible and trust that all will be well. Together we will get there. Best wishes.
Hi Marysrory2. I can totally understand how you feel as I am the same ! As recently developed AF no matter how hard I try not to it seems to be constantly on my mind . My gp isn't proving to be much help and consultants etc only have time for basics. There doesn't appear to be anyone medically qualified to talk to. Its very scary!
Hi Nafi. You are not alone- I feel the same- speak soon. Ed.
I know a lot of people who work in health care (UK) -Doctors, and nurses. The usual response when they talk to me goes some thing like - "its only Afib" "there are thousands of people with it" Think this is a good site, as the people who generally post, and join have A-Fib. The not so good part is- you will read too much, and it can worry you. Some times I only want to read the optimistic, and god posts. ED
Totally agree with you Ed1532, excellent site and lots of interesting and helpful information but I do find some posts scary , so try to be selective what i read . The thought of 3+ ablations etc terrifies me !
Why does AF make me want to pee so often ...mostly in the night. And does this happen with other people. Does not seem to affect me during the day
Wow so nice to find a site to talk to so one about this
Hi Nafi
You are not alone. Most of us here are or have gone through similar situation. I for one is always frighten whenever I am in AF but as hard as it is in reality I will try my best to stay calm and do the breathing exercise that is usually very helpful. But yeah .. you are not alone. The anxiety is real and it is hard. Hopefully you will find this forum helpful. Definitely my go to place. ♥️
Hi and welcome to the forum. Your query about peeing - yes AF can have this effect. I have to get up at least 3 times during the night but I am okay during the day. If you are having a bad AF episode this will trigger the peeing, you will be going to the loo every 15-30 mins.

Ask away and read as much as you can about it, my brother was the same so scared he could hardly speak, his eyes were out on sticks, I’ve suffered with irregular heart beats too, mine has settled, it wasn’t af, but as I taught my brother all about it, he started to ‘own’ it, the af, understanding/ knowing what’s going on inside you is half the battle, he got accustomed to feeling his pulse, I bought him a pulse oximetry for his finger, showed heart rate and a tracing of the hearts rhythm.... he went on to putting an app on his phone where he just put his finger on it and it showed a tracing, learning good breathing technique, cool showers, staying hydrated, knowing sometimes what triggers the af, foods, wine, beer, anxiety,
He had 3 ablations and now back in normal rhythm, fingers crossed.
Good luck wish you well.
It is scary and we've all been there. Some of us are still here after many years which is something to hang on to. The peeing is a pain, I'm up more often these days.
