Well, I finally got my surgery to add Actavis brand to my Flecainide script to avoid getting other brands on which I seem to get a lot of ectopics. Now I find that Actavis has rebranded to Accord! Hey Ho, Hey Ho, It’s off to the surgery again I go🎵🎶

Interesting as only ”Tambacor” Flecainide works for me.
Generics just don’t cut it.
My GP names it on my prescriptions.

Thanks Pete, bet you had to fight to get the expensive one! Luckily. Seem to be ok on Actavis generic, but cannot understand why the ingredients are allowed to change from one generic to another. It seems as long as the essential Flecainide element is included, they can fill the tablet to a suitable size with any approved filler they like. Guess we’d all be taking micro dots ............. if we took the Flecainide on its own 😂.

Yes I had a real fight earlier in the year because the license was sold and there was a period of about three months when it wasn’t available.
My GP does get the “ump” sometimes and I’ve had 2 other situations which were clearly related to cost.
My EP suggested I came off Warfarin and I am sure my GP id ignoring this for that reason. He is of course not taking into account the cost of INR testing.

Seems like a false economy to me. Not many patients manage their own INR testing and staffing and running INR clinics must cost a fortune. As you know, few people on D/NOACs have problems and just need 6 or 12 monthly kidney/ liver function tests. Seems like a no brainer to me & (apologies to Warfarin fans) I like my brocolli🥦😁. Pat x
Accord took over Actavis quite a while ago now, but the Actavis factory are still making some products under their own name. They still make my Levothyroxine, thank goodness. I discovered when I rang them this week to enquire about their Metoprolol that they are not making that right now, but may start again next summer (strange).
Please ring the company in Barnstaple, Devon on 01271 385200 and check that the lack of Actavis Flecainide is true. This company are more than helpful they can tell you exactly where your pharmacy can purchase some stock (if it's still available) and will even call them to explain.
I've had to do that many times for products of theirs that I insist on having. I like the fact that there doesn't appear to be colourings added in the items I use. Colourings can stop me from sleeping if taken at night.
If anyone knows of colour free Metoprolol pills please let me know.

Thanks Jean, I believe the Accord brand is the same as Actavis - just rebranded. When you look up the patient info leaflet online they are identical, as is the packaging, apart from the name. The pharmacy assistant changed the Accord for the Actavis just in case though!

Have just looked it up and it still looks like they're using the factory in Barnstaple to make them, so will certainly be the made to the same formulae. Thank goodness.
I insist on Actavis and apart from a blip around February this year when I had to shop around my GP surgery seem to be able to supply it. Thanks for all your comments very useful.
