Anxiety and heart tachycardia

Hello everyone, I would like your opinion about something that happened to me this morning, I think it could help me.

I am currently spending holidays in Greece and this morning while I was fitting my swimsuits I started to feel bad. I was having a tachycardia episode actually. I tried cold shower, breath exercises but this time I started to feel anxious and I had the feeling that my episode was worst and could lead to death (BPM around

Unfortunately I forgot to take my beta blocker so I called an ambulance and I have been drive to the hospital and you want to know the best part of it? My return flight is scheduled for today!

Hopefully, they gave me beta blocker and my heart rate is slower than before but I didn't manage my anxiety and I think it makes the think worst.

I don't know if my tachycardia could have a link with my ablation (November 2018) or if there is a chance that my anxiety turn on tachycardia event.

Thank for reading.

Hi, I hope the hospital was able to help you and you made your flight. I am not sure what advice you want? Anxiety makes tachycardia worse because you are pumping out adrenaline which tells your body you are being chased by a tiger! You did the right things except for forgetting the betablocker. BBS are used for anxiety as well so should help with that 💜

Hello Buffafly! Thank for your answer. I am back in France right now, my heart started to settle down few hours after I left the hospital.

Well to be honest, I didn't sure I made the good decision by calling the ambulance and maybe I should be able to manage the situation itself when it occurs. And I think I overreacted this is always when the problem is gone that you have this kind of thoughts like: "Maybe I should try another way".

I became really anxious after the ablation, constantly checking the pulse...

Too late to worry afterwards but perhaps now you are safely at home you could get help with your anxiety? There are apps which can help and if you practice calm before an episode, first you may not have one and second you can cope better when you do. Tachycardia of any kind makes you feel panicky so you have to break the spiral.

Glad you're ok.

Hi Lien-Ju, How frightening for you, I understand. I have had several episodes where I am not of sure if anxiety triggered the tachycardia and arrhythmia or my anxiety triggered the tachycardia. My doctor is not sure either. Which ever way I ended up in hospital several times. They are so closely linked and feed off each other, however if anxiety can be controlled I am sure the tachycardia and ectopic will lessen.
