I have just started using my new Kardia monitor , which has confirmed what I suspected- that I am back in AF after 4 lovely AF free years following my ablation. It appears I am continuously going in and out of AF, and probably have been for about three weeks now. I’ve done a few readings over a few hours( finding out about my new gizmo), with some normal and some ‘possible AF’ readings. The soonest cardiologist appointment I can get is 12th August. This is going to be a long wait!!
Long wait!: I have just started using... - Atrial Fibrillati...
Long wait!
Do you have the new 6 lead Kardia? I just got mine yesterday. It is supposed to be more accurate than the 1 lead.
No I have the Kardia mobile.
I had the KardiaMobile 1 lead for the past year and it is better than not having anything, but is not completely accurate. You have done the right thing to get into see the cardiologist asap, but it may just be ectopics, or some other issue. Kardia has just recently come out with the new 6 lead Mobile, which is more accurate. I just got mine last week, and I am not sure if it is available everywhere yet. Of course, I guess the best is to have a loop recorder inserted and monitored by the doctor.
Beware of false analysis on your Kardia mobile. I have one (approx the size of a name badge), which was giving me comments such as “unclassified” and “possible atrial fibrillation” during this spring. When I actually saw the EP, he said the graphs did not show AF, but ectopic beats, and were not a problem. I had planned for some strenuous hill walking, he told me to go ahead and it was fine. He said the graphs they record are good, but their analysis was less so if it diverts from “normal”.
agreed, don't automatically think that the Kardia "possible af" warning means AF.
I had several of those, and it was just runs of ectopic beats , which can feel as bad as AF!
You could send it to kardia for further analysis. They just charge £5 and it might clarify things for you.
Sorry to hear you may be back in AF. I too am free of AF - almost 6 years so hoping it stays that way.
August 12 is not too long so good luck. 🍀
The most accurate way to figure out if your are in Afib is to place your two fingers or index finger on your throat and feel the pulse. Do not rely on an electronic unit to decide for you. Your finger will tell you EXACTLY what is happening to you.
Well I took my Kardia readings to my GP who was certain that what is showing is ectopic beats. Relieved it is likely not AF but ectopics are still bothersome! My approach to the Kardia will be to check for any irregularity but not assume AF is responsible- I’ll get it checked. At least I can be proactive this way in getting evidence! I need to now find ways of managing ectopics!
