Tummy Upset and Fleeting AF

Hi. Hope you are all doing good. Have a question to ask. Has anyone here experienced tummy ache with loads of gas and then it triggered palpitations. When you check with Kardia it says possible AF. But about 10 minutes after when the tummy is settled you are back in normal rhythm. Is this common? Would like to know members experience and what do you do about it? Thanks.

i have not heard this specific situation, but I have heard that GERD or other gastric issues can trigger Afib.

Thanks for the reply. What I was experiencing was feeling that my tummy was really gassy and I burped a lot of ‘gas’.

Hi Spritzer,

Yep ..... me. I'm about to shortly dash off to work, but, in the mean time click on my username and read some of my posts on this and similar topics. With many of us this is not uncommon, but varies very much between individuals. The connection is the vagal nerve - a nerve in the central nervous system that influences/controls/whatever BOTH the heart AND THE digestive system.

Let me know if I can help further.

John

Yes I experience this too and have done so for ten plus years now. The good old vagus nerve seems to be the source of this but I have yet to find a medic who has an answer about how to deal with it or resolve the issue.

Yes I experience this too and will avoid shrimp in the future. Ate too much and stuck in AFib. The gas is odd as It persisted even when i ate bread and mild things the next day. been in AFib 44 hours :(
