Heart ablation

I had a heart ablation on 1st July, I ended up in A&E 9th July due to AF 161 beats per minute. They sorted me out but I am still experiencing uncomfortable chest and shortness of breath. Any ideas? Has anyone else had similar experiences?

Far too early to worry. It will take three to six months for you to recover as we explain in our fact sheets. You should do nothing but rest for the first two weeks and then gradually increase as you feel able.

Thank you, where can I find your fact sheet. Other info I have read says a couple of weeks at the most!

Bob is right. I had breakthrough attacks, fatigue and terrible cough for 6-7 weeks. Don’t believe the overly optimistic prattle-but you will probably be fine. Today is my 3 month anniversary and I think the ablation worked. You might want to cancel some obligations though - at least til 2 months are up.

I am so pleased I found you guys, I have been panicking thinking there was something wrong, well I know there is but it makes me feel better reading these replies. Thank you so much

Strangely I have developed a dry cough, now that i have reread your reply i feel a bit better about it as i had started to consider whether something was wrong

HAve to agree with others who say this is normal....I felt an unusual sensation...not quite pain, in my chest for at least 6 weeks, and have learned here to consider this heart surgery rather than "a procedure"...so take it easy. My hear rate remained high for 8 months (as in 90's for a resting rate) and only recently is slowing in the 80's but I feel fine and can exercise, climb my stairs without feeling exhausted:)

Yes I think I can relate to surgery as opposed to procedure because that’s exactly how I felt. Thank you. It’s great to talk

Nice and easy does it. Build in some regular gentle exercise to slowly improve your heart muscle tone and have a good look at your lifestyle choices.
