I know many of us have a problem getting enough sleep. For me, I know that my af causes me to lose sleep and my tiredness sets me up for af.
So I was talking to my young son about all the things I'd tried to deal with the lightness of my bedroom in the early hours of a summers day (black out blinds, double curtains, etc.) all to no avail. 'Why don't you get an eye mask?' he said. 'Like the ones people wear on planes'.
Got one. A nice black silk one. I look like a cross between the Marquis de Sade and the Lone Ranger (I imagine, because of course I can't see myself in the mirror in it...). However, it's revolutionised my sleep patterns. No more waking to the f'ing dawn chorus and lying there in the growing daylight.
I reckon I have gained the equivalent of two extra nights sleep a week. So, just passing on the tip to anybody like me who has this problem and doesn't have the imagination of a young mind.
p.s. don't leave it on your pillow when the cleaners are due to call. Looks bad.

I've recently discovered exactly the same thing, but I put a wide black and stretchy hairband around my head and over my eyes. I think that if anyone breaks into my house while I'm asleep I'll pretend I'm blind, then they wont have to kill me, because I wouldn't be able to identify them, or of course they could strangle me with it! Honest the things that go through your mind when living on your own and you've already had one scare.
Seriously though, I do think this is an idea that many light sleepers might consider. I bought one whilst on holiday this year and it does make a difference. Great to take it off and see the clock at 7.0am and not 5.0am. Buy a good one though which fits comfortably.
Get ring cameras ... my husband is in Europe and he can monitor our home here when l am asleep! They are great. If you are alone, at least you will know who is around your property.
Enthusiasm for ablation as a solution that has worked for you is great. So happy it's worked for you!
What doesn't make sense to me is why you would think you know what's best for every other person out here, as if others aren't busy exploring various options to help themselves. Ablations don't always work. That's common knowledge.
I'm really not a fan of telling people what to do with their health. The enthusiasm for what has worked is great!
But then using that to tell others what they should do, without even knowing them or asking them a single question? I don't find that very helpful.
I've had some struggles with insomnia myself and have never felt too comfortable wearing a sleep mask. My recent explorations have been in the area of the impact of EMFs and RF and what simple changes I can make in my home to support my health.
Yesterday I was reading about the impact of Wi-fi, a major source of RF. Then I went for a haircut, and while on my phone for a moment in this salon that happens to be directly across the street from my apartment, I saw that I could access my Wi-fi network across the street! How strong must it be when I'm sitting right next to the router?! Never mind all my neighbors' routers.
Last night I turned off my Wi-fi (major source of RF) and unplugged what wasn't necessary near my bed before going to sleep.
Had a significantly better quality of sleep! I was amazed by the difference.
