Enzyme CQ10

Last week I had cardioversion #7 and have been back on flecainide and a beta blocker. Since then I have had this sensation in my chest which is similar to the after effects of bronchospasm.

I have started taking Enzyme CQ10, which is slowly helping (although I took it after supper yesterday and didn't sleep much last night ... lesson learnt).

What dose of this enzyme should I be taking?

...and btw the last time I took it I cleared it with my EP.

I take 100mg bd.

This is the advice from the Dr Sinatra site. drsinatra.com/is-ubuquinol-...

How Much CoQ10 Should You Take Daily?

Healthy people under age 60 should take 50 to 100 mg

If you’re over 60 or on a statin drug, I recommend 100 to 200 mg

If you had recent heart surgery, a heart attack, or congestive heart failure, I recommend 200 to 300 mg

Thanks! I was recommended 150mg by the pharmacist, who wasn't really convincing. I will step down when I have finished the bottle I am on now.

I have been taking 120mg Co Q10 for longer than I can remember mainly because that size is cheaper and often 2 for 1 in Holland and Barrett.

Im 66 and take 200 mg of CoQ10. Im also on a statin which is why I started it

I take it as it neutralizes the side effects of flecainide that I feel. Those are the anxiety like weird feelings. But I believe it is also good for reducing cholesterol.

I was told that if you take a statin, the statin can deplete your natural CoQ10 so they recommend a supplement

Thanks

Hi Jonathan, I dont know anything abt that enzyme I'm sorry but I went to an EP for the first time yesterday and my biggest concern was the feeling in my chest like an asthma attack, he said it's from the flecainide and recommended changing it, I would ask the cardiologist if it could be from the flecainide. Hope you feel better, I know the feeling and its truly awful.. Good luck 🙂

I think this time round my body is taking time to adjust to the meds. That and/or the Coenzyme is working. I am starting to feel much better.

Hi Jonathan, my Naturopath said he treated all his AF patients with a Mg compound (incl taurine, potassium) and Co Q10. On my last consultation he said the tested level could even be over the top of the accepted range. Having tested every 6 months I am now on 200mgs per weekday and 100mgs on weekend day to try and get my level steady at the top of the range.

Interesting what you say about neutralising the effect of Flec as I did feel better after going on the above supplements. I have read CoQ10 is good for a number of body stuff incl teeth/gums. As for taking it, I believe you should take it with a fatty meal for best absorption, I take mine after breakfast. Hope something there helps.

I take 100 after I cleared it with my cardiologist at the beginning of my journey with him. Many doctors do not like supplements so I asked if he had a problem with me taking that and he said if anything he thought it might make me feel better . Just make sure you get a good quality one. They are not all equal especially as far as absorption. I take Qunol lol I like the gummy’s. It’s like taking candy which I try to avoid doing
