Thanks for this post, its interesting and has now got me wondering if I should have had a one year follow up. I was written off after my 12 week TOE and subsequent consultation appt. I haven't got any really cause to be concerned but just wondered if you've had a 1yr follow up for the device?

Mine was fitted in June 2017 by Professor Hildick-Smith. I just had a follow up echocardiogram after about ten weeks . He does not do a TOE as he says it would be cruel ! I took Plavix for two months and a 75mg coated aspirin for six months and that was it.

I have an annual Echo at a different hospital to check my replaced aortic valve. Last year I asked the operator how my Amplatzer looked. She did not know what it was and when I explained said she could not see it! I had a cardiology appointment yesterday with an idiot locum. When I raised that point he said we do not look at it.... it won't have moved. I said that a thrombus could have formed round it.

I'll ask again when I have my next echo later in the year.

Thanks for replying, my EP at St Barts must have been cruel then as I had to have a TOE after 12wks also 75mg aspirin for 6mths and then a cardiologist local to me after 6mths who just looked at my notes and as he didn't have a copy of the TOE result from Barts said that he would get it sent to him and then said that was it!

Oh well as I feel ok I'm looking on the bright side and just grateful that I was able to have the op on NHS .

Did they put you out for the TOE? I was for the one I had after my valve replacement when they also did a cardioversion
