High potassium levels?

Hi. Well after getting the all clear afterwards of tests and still feeling rubbish I found out by chance after a blood test for an eye condition, they found my potassium levels were high. Apparently 5.4. Levels go from 3.5 - 5.3 so mine is slightly above. I have googled it ( rolley eyes), and found higher levels can effect electrolyte levels and heart / kidney function. So went to dr, he said he would do another blood test but didn't bothered! No surprise from this dr to be honest! Anyone else had similar?

I had exactly this a few months ago. The GP pretty much left it to me to sort out! I found davita.com/diet-nutrition

very helpful, with which foods to cut back on and which to go for. Vegetables and fruit have some interesting results i.e. not all healthy vegetables/fruit are good for getting potassium levels down. The best thing I did, which really helped was to increase my water intake. (All on this AF group would recommend good hydration anyway!) When I went back for a further blood test I was down to 4.6 :-).

Hope you can get sorted too.

Ah ok. Thanks. I have never liked drinking water lol

I would ask again for a repeat test. It’s common for borderline levels to come back normal.
