One for your GP to explain how this will affect your treatment

The complex network that links the heart, brain and the main biological systems provides a new vision of cardiovascular science based on psychoneuroendocrineimmunology (121), a science that studies the reciprocal interconnections between the psyche and nervous, immune and endocrine systems, integrating knowledge derived from the psychological and biological sciences of stress with molecular biology and epigenetic research (121, 122).

In the next few years, the psychoneuroendocrineimmunology paradigm could make a fundamental contribution to both areas of pathogenetic research and therapeutic approaches to treat major cardiovascular diseases (123).

Should be quite fascinating to listen to his/her response?

Yes, finally. From my experience, not only the heart needs to be considered. It is affected but specifically why is still to be determined.

Many many years ago whilst doing an HIV course my essay was on Psychoneuroimmunology and it's effect on HIV progression.

This was regarding the brain's link to the immune response to HIV. It was suggested that a positive attitude for example and gentle exercise coulld increase the number of T cells produced to fight the disease. It was a long time ago and I'm away at present so can't dig it out.

The mind body connection has always fascinated me, and we all understand its impact re eczema, and migraine for example. There was also research re med students studying for exams getting more colds. ( stress and immune response)

Well I was fooled. I thought why is Lanc2 putting something so boring on our forum!

Incidentally Dr Mark Hyman is releasing talks by leading experts on the heart and brain connection etc., and each one is free to watch for 24hrs after the release, then he sells them all as a batch. I've watched them free before and they contain amazing info and you're not constantly hassled to buy them afterwards. Let me know if you want the link, starts tomorrow.

Apparently, it's been discovered that the heart and brain have a stronger bond than was ever realised.

I'm not at all surprised… it is all fascinating stuff and I'm sure in a few years our attempts at treatment will be deemed prehistoric!!
