Since I have been diagnosed with AF and had a couple of attacks my Urination Frequency has increased.
Suppose one can get medicated for this. Would prefer if there is another way.

Unfortunately frequency is a common problem when you are in AF.
Once you get back into NSR you should be OK again.

This is a natural reaction of your body to AF. The distressed heart secretes an enzyme which causes the body to shed salt so quite normal. We all have it! Not generally treated .
As a precaution, If your urine frequency is with extreme thirst, then deffinately get your blood sugars checked by your doctor; it’s first sign of Type1 diabetes.
Before my ablation I always knew when I had gone into AF as I started to go to the toilet so often. When I went out of AF went back to normal. Apparently this a typical symptom of AF
That was one of the things that really annoyed me when I had AF, forever wanting to pee but since my ablation last year AF free and urinating has return to normal
Hi Hugo40, there was a post about this the other day with a brilliant explanation as to exactly why it happens. Someone had an ablation and found that by chance their frequent need to go to the loo had been cured in the process. I can’t remember who posted it, I will try and find it for you 😊
Thanks Kellyjelly
much appreciated.

Hi Kellyjelly,
did you ever come up with the brilliant explanation for the extra urinary activity. Apologies if you have already reported and I've missed it. Best wishes.

I was getting up 4/5 times a night for a wee and have PAF, someone suggested on this site that I might as well get checked out for Sleep Apnea, which I did and was put on Cpap immediately and now sleep through the night. As we all agree, we are all so different, but frustrating when the obvious gets missed!
I never put afib and urinary frequency all together until reading all these posts. I attributed all the peeing to my general discomfort, anxiety and antsyness about being in afib. I'm grateful for this site and the additional information I'm learning.
BTW I have also noticed an increase in restless leg syndrome. Is there a possibility that could be affected by afib or the associated meds used to treat it?
Yes it is a pain. I also urinate frequently, particularly noticeable from 3-6pm. I assume this may be part the heart enzyme being released (as Bob mentions) without the AF as that is controlled by Flecainide. I also have had for 10+ years an enlarged prostate which probably also contributes plus of course age at 65. So who knows which one is the main cause, just grateful my QOL is good.
ah, so that's why I spend the nights trotting to the bathroom does it affect one,s balance too?
