Med schedule

Was in the hospital with 30 hrs of nonstop Afib and Aflutter on Valentines day. How ironic. They added Eliquis to my med regime now. I have been on propafenone and diltiazem. I am trying to streamline my med schedule. Do any of you take all 3 of these at the same time? I have to crush all my meds and mix in applesauce.

That may not work. Many pills are coated to control the rate of release Diltiezem being one. Many need to be taken with food and not just a spoonful of sauce. Read the instruction with your meds and if in doubt you need to discuss how you take your pills with your doctor.

Hi there - The instructions on the dosage for Diltiazam clearly state to be swallowed whole and not chewed - so you should stop crushing them immediately - they are a prolonged release formulation. As BobD says read the instructions as many tablets must not be crushed or have to be taken with food or a decent amount of liquid/water. If you have difficulty in swallowing tablets you should let your GP know - not sure what the solution would be.

Thank you for your replies. My doctors know that I have to crush my meds and can only eat pureed food. What I am questioning is if these meds can be taken at the same time or do you have to space Eliquis out from them. Sorry for the confusion. I should have been more clear.

I take my Pradaxa and other meds at the same time. I have never been told differently. I have been taking Pradaxa since 2012. Sandy

I take my Eliquis (apixaban) at the same time as my medications are due morning and evening. Otherwise I'd probably forget/miss doses.
