Do the drugs keep me out of AF?

I am now 2 months post ablation. I had early recurrence at 12 days post ablation and nothing since. A lot of PACs and some close calls when I was sure it was going to go that way and didn’t.

I take 240mg Cardizem daily. And 100 metropolol. My question is are these meds, specifically Cardizem keeping me out of A FIb? Or is it the procedure? I usually get PAF every two months. Like clockwork.

These are really antiarrythmics so I’m confused. Thanks

Although there is disagreement in the med literature, most cardiologists agree that recurring arrhythmias during first 3 mo pd after ablation may be expected, while heart is healing. The meds help minimize them.

Your drugs are not antiarrhythmics, they relax the heart and lower BP and HR.

Healing takes from three to six months during which time it is a good idea to maintain drug control to ease the burden on the heart. See our Recovering from Ablation fact sheet.
