Happy new year everyone, well I am having the ablation at 10 in the morning , have come off all my meds and sat here worried stupid that I will have a do which might stop me having my ablation!!!! Getting train to Leeds this afternoon, then staying overnight in hotel ready to go in morning. I am trying the deep breathing and telling myself that being off my meds will not suddenly start an svt but omg it’s hard putting mind over matter if you get what I mean.
Will report back after the ablation, Ursula x

All the very best of luck Ursula, just in case you haven’t seen this, check out the facts sheet below.
I have the impression it won't matter if you 'have a do'. Being off the medication with my first ablation (I had to give up my beta blocker which has not been a requirement in subsequent ablations) certainly sent me off the rails. It didn't seem to matter at all.
You don't sound unsure about going ahead - quite the reverse. I'd make the comment that waiting to be called is the most difficult bit. Once you are there in the cath lab, the impressive technology reassures one.
Before you are called, put all your stuff that you might want to have to hand - bottle of water, phone, lip salve, specs, fruit pastilles, tablet, book, pack of tissues, toothbrush or breath freshener and so on in a container that can be passed to you as you will be flat and immobile for a while afterwards. They will probably give you a drink in a cup with a little spout. You get very well looked after in my experience.
Hope it goes well and you don't have a lot of waiting beforehand.
Thanks Rellim 2. Lol you sound a character , I am going to be asleep when they do it but apprehensive, frightened etc etc , will definately make sure all my comforters are there for me lol. X Ursula
Wishing you well ! I wouldn't worry about starting an episode. All the better so they can see what's going on ! I know you are SVT and not AF but I went into fast AF just before I left home for my last ablation and stayed that way until the procedure.
Thanks Kaz747, no turning back now , even though I want to lol x Ursula
Oh Ursula big hugs just try to distract yourself, are you going alone or have you got someone with you? Very best of luck I'm sure it will be over before you know it and you'll think why was i so worried. I haven't had my yet on the waiting list but I'll be exactly the same as you so you can calm me. X
Oh bless you Scoobisu, my husband is coming and so is my daughter and grandson, he’s eight and looking forward to staying in the hotel but bless him he keeps saying “ your health is really important Nana” when I was in hospital last time I was rushed in and my daughter came with him. I asked why he wasn’t at school and he said “ your health is far more important than my education Nana” it’s times like that that I just melt and feel lucky that the doctors are doing everything to help me get well again. Will keep you informed, hope you go up that waiting list quickly, I will give you all the details to hopefully help you too. Are you in the north of England? X Ursula
Best wishes for tomorrow Ursula. I've had three ablations and can tell you there's not a lot to it and I would never have gone back, twice more, after the first if there was something unpleasant about the procedure.
I know how you feel, but if you do go in to AF before the procedure, at least they will be able to find the hot spots easily enough.
Just remember to rest, rest and more rest following the ablation. If you are like me, you will be feeling great a couple of days after, and it's easy to over do things.
I do find it difficult to understand why some are asked to stop meds whereas I have had 7 ablations and was always told to keep taking the tablets. No doubt therevis a good reason in your case.
Regarding going into bad rhythm prior to the procedure don’t worry about that. Sometimes they prefer it that way and if not will stimulate AF during the procedure to enable them to identify the paths they have to address.
I had GA for the last 3 ablations and I much prefer that option. Maybe because I am not made of stern enough resilience.
The waiting is the worst part but you can comfort yourself that it will be all over this time tomorrow.

Hope everything went to plan and looking forward to hearing how you got on. Looks like you will need to take things easy for a while and I'm going to remind my husband of that - he is waiting for his first ablation and I keep thinking that he will over do things afterwards. Sending you sunshine.
Went well , please read the blog I am doing this afternoon when I am not so tired and hopefully it will help him, as others on this site have helped me. X Ursula
Good luck to you, I hope that it went well for you. Just be kind to yourself in recovery, although not an open surgery it is still invasive so don’t rush your recovery. Let yourself be spoilt by your lovely family.
As I write, your procedure will hopefully be underway. So just adding to good wishes of others. The next you know it will all be over and behind you and you will be feeling the optimism of an improved quality of life. Hoping 2019 is a good one for you - and for everyone else in this forum. Liz xx
