Undoubtedly too much too soon. You should know it will take three to six months for full reecovery. Speak to your arrhythmia nurse if you have concerns.

Thanks BobD ..I wasnt told not to be active I was discharged after 3 mths and not told it could take up to six months I see that you are an active and invaluable member on here so your advice is appreciated ..esp on a Sunday when no one to ask!

Af Association produced a fact sheet on recovery which you can access via the main website under patient information. Few doctors have had ablations but we patients produced this guide!

Very good fact sheet - thanks

Maybe worth having your groin checked for a possible infection but it sounds more like you have strained it during all this activity which the factsheet suggested you should avoid. Try to do some deep breathing and drink lots of water and avoid caffeine and alcohol. Try a gentle (rhythmic) walk as sometimes this can encourage sinus rhythm to return but as Bob says, if rhythm doesn’t return, contact the hospital tomorrow. If there is no luck with the Arrhythmia Nurse, speak to your EP’s secretary.

Thank you yes I did read the fact sheet but a while ago I thought wrongly that the advice for resting was 3 mths so looks like own fault! I might add that most of the activity was only this week and a lot of unavoidable things ..Re the groin check ..could my GP do this? They seem to not know much about ablation I dont understand why noone warns us of these things and it is only the lovely people on here who help!

I’ve added a bit more Timeless so re-read. GP or surgery nurse is certainly worth a visit. The important thing is to stay calm. The same thing happened to me two days after my 6 month review with my EP so I know how you feel......

Was your ablation successful?

in reply toTimeless1

Yes and no, it was a cryoablation back in 2016 but the EP had a problem isolating one of the pulmonary veins which is not unusual. 13 weeks ago (how’s that for a coincidence) I had a second RF ablation to tidy up the loose ends and so far, so good.....

Ah! I had cryoablation

too but not keen to have another ..I was too awake and sedation didnt work enough so found it a dreadful ordeal Ive spoken to EP about it ...he wont do them under GA I wish you well...

Find one who will is my adice. RF is usually GA so if he only does cryo which is faster and easier he may not be able to help.
