I sent you my information but I live in the United States so I don’t know if I could be included. Caffeine is my biggest trigger thus far aside from any time I’ve had any surgeries which also always triggers my afib.
I find natural caffeine, such as filter coffee is fine.
Instant coffee is a trigger for me.
BUT the worst episode I had was after taking Paracetemol EXTRA. It contains caffeine but the packet looks remarkably similar to the usual Paracetemol .It landed me in A and E.
I have had mitral valve repair and have persistent AF.
I only drink 'natural' coffee, rarely the instant variety, but it has never been a trigger for my AF at all. I hope the press enquiry will also state that not everyone has a problem with caffeine!
I think I read somewhere that there are two general forms of AFIB - Adrenergic and Vagal. The Adrenergic type is most common (75%) and is the type that would be effected by caffeine. The vagal type (which I believe I have) is impacted by vagal nerve stimulation of which things like heartburn and acid reflux have an effect. I can drink caffeine all day long and have no AFIB issues and I don't think I've ever tied an AFIB episode to caffeine use. If I go to bed on a full stomach or have heartburn I can immediately go into AFIB.
dont go to bed on a full stomach and deal with the reflux. it means changing your diet. you get used to it and i assure you will love having the better health
