So. I am now one week on from stopping bisoprolol. I'm doing OK. Heart rate has gone from low 40BPM to 65-67BPM. I don't feel as exhausted and I don't feel like I'm a 100yrs old and wading through custard lol.

My gp wrote to the consultant about my missed appointment with him and the reply has come back that he doesn't plan to see me again. But I can be referred back if needed in the future if I have any further problems!

It seems I'm now walking the tightrope without a safety net so to speak. So I'm just self monitoring (not obsessively) with kardia and BP machine at home, so far so good.

I'm still going to stick around on this site with all of you wonderful people so I don't feel quite alone and fingers crossed everything stays OK.

OK good to know things are more stable and you are less fatigued. Heart rate bang on by the way.

Thank you Bob. I'm feeling fairly optimistic. Fingers crossed this will continue. I am more aware of the ectopics but I've had these since my teens.

Good to know you are feeling better. I think your comment regarding walking a tightrope without safety net applies to us all and I see self monitoring and being an active agent in your own wellbeing a very positive thing. The trick is knowing when you do need to go back and ask for expert advice. Secondary care is just that - they are not there to monitor - but that is your GP’s job who can refer you back at any time.

Thanks. As I replied to Bob, I'm more aware of the ectopics since my HR has picked up but hopefully things will settle. I'm not phased over them. They have been with me for many many years

Although I can understand your apprehension DD, it sounds as if you are in a much better place. You are feeling significantly better, your heart rate is well within normal range so probably their is little your consultant could do to improve things for you so he probably would have discharged you anyway. You can monitor your heart and as long as that does not become obsessive, you should do well, but as CD says, if things do start change for the worse, your GP will have to refer you. I think this is the position that many are in and hopefully you will remain stable and well......

Thanks flapjack. The letter does say I can see gp if things change.

No I don't have the consuming fatigue I'm raring to go and catch up with everything I've not been able to do.

Another thing I've realised is my pain levels are far better as it had become relentless and just thought my arthritis had got to that point now I'm supposing it was the betablocker and low HR contributing to this
