I have just come out of 20 hours of AF. I awoke with it and had to get up. I have been breathless all day - unable to do much. I tried blowing into the narrow end of a 22 ml syringe with no luck. My Flecanide did no good at all. I am waiting for a second ablation, but there is a 3 - 4 month list at the John Radcliffe. Just had to have a moan! Thank you!
I am exhausted!: I have just come out... - Atrial Fibrillati...
I am exhausted!
Marina, I do understand and I do sympathise. AF is an absolute bastard.
I hope tomorrow will be better.
good to hear you have returned to NSR sorry you've had a grim time
I'll second what jennydog has just commented!!
at least your back in rhythm now, fingers crossed it stays that way.....
Those AF attacks can zap your energy for days, but thank goodness you're back in sinus rhythm now. It's such a hateful condition at times!
Best wishes
Jean
Those of us in permanent AF will sympathise and be envious that yours at least does come to an end. 😀
Glad your now out of it, I too had 2 days of AF last week, dreadful, but we're ok now
I have called it a curse many times, mine is always fast, uncontrolled, and requires cardioversion. I am just completely ill. My first round with it lasted 3 1/2 months, uncontrolled and they did 1 unsuccessful cardioversion each month before the 3rd one worked while taking propafenone. I never imagined anything so difficult to manage, mine is either perfect Sinus Rhthym or I am completely 100% out, never in between!
Have you tried taking Magnesium? Search on here for more information. You may find it helpful.
No, I have not. I have read about it, but afraid to touch anything. I take Flecainde, metoprolol, and warfarin. That is it... absolutely nothing else. Maybe it would be worth a try?
Providing your kidneys are working fine, there should be no problem, but check that your doctor sees no problem to be absolutely sure. He may well say there is no point as medics are not trained in the use of vitamins, minerals etc, but they are essential to our bodies, and magnesium is known to be in short supply in people with AF (It can take six months or more to replenish. Eating nuts will help.). (A blood test would be inconclusive because the body ensures there is always enough in the blood, even when being very short of it elsewhere)
A good multi-vitamin-and-mineral from a health food shop, for at least three months, could help as well - anything that will improve your overall health. Your body will then be better able to handle the bouts of AF. Just processing the medications uses up extra vitamins etc, including magnesium, quite apart from any pre-existing shortfall.
