I had one some time ago and it was completely painless and discomfort free. It was done under general anaesthetic which meant I was totally unaware until waking up in recovery. Unfortunately, I reverted to AF very quickly..........in my case I think it was too long and well established to be successful.

Hope this helps.

Thank you Ricky !! Do you take medication still !! I fear my AF sounds like yours had 2 cv one lasted a few days 2nd one only lasted minutes hence they trying the internal one !!!

Yes, I also had two external cv's after the internal one.......none lasted 24hrs! You sound like a better candidate than me.

I am on Rivaroxaban and Digoxin for the foreseable.

Best of luck.......let us know how you get on.

Hi Edm, I am having trouble getting a diagnosis. ECG only shows SVTs, ectopics and systoles? but I can feel my heart in my back going round its circuit and casting a long length right down my back. Makes sitting down difficult because I am bouncing up and down with the powerful beats. Have heard that sometimes abnormal beats don't always show up on ECG if they are coming from the back of the heart. I struggle with it because it's permanent. I am sure it is AF.

I wondered if you or anyone else has had this experience?

Emily

Hi, Thank you for your reply. I have a lot of symptoms making it difficult to get on with my life. I have been on bisoprolol, propranolol, isosorbibe mononitrate and finally amlodipine. Amlodipine made me ill and it causes atrial fibrillation apparently. My pulse went very low (33) but it is now back to normal (68). I am having to be persistent with the doctors. Good to know that they are nice at Castle Hill.

Hi Eileen,

Hope you are getting better. After a lot of deliberation and doctors appointments my symptoms have boiled down to an involuntary movement disorder caused by the medication. I'm having spasms. It's very debilitating. Thankfully no more chest pains. I have been seeing a neurologist and he has done a lot of tests which have come back 'fine' but they still don't know how to cure it. He has now referred me to a specialist hospital in London.

Let me know how you are getting on.

Best wishes.

Hi Emily I hope you get sorted out !! I’m still on bisoprosol but off apixaban until I’m 65 I’ve reduced hours at work !! And have started line dancing once a week and do 10k steps a day this really helps with my energy levels! Which helps he a great deal !! Take care Eileen
