Sponsored by Royal Society for Public Health, you don't need to go "cold turkey" and aimed mainly at the younger generation though i guess we are all guilty in spending non-productive time on-line. So disconnect from the internet and connect with nature.

Good luck and good health to all here.

Difficult for we volunteers. I'll still be around.

Go on give it a go...sure you wouldn't be missed for a shift. Even volunteers need a break and it wouldn't affect the price of fish.

I often miss a day if I'm out racing but a whole month. nah.

No. You don't need to be out for a month. Just set some out time times. And, be honest, when pusuing your hobby/passion, do you occasionally "peek". If not then you are safe and do not require medical attention!! (only joking).

If I need medical attention then I have made a really big mistake and they will probably need cutting equipment!

Got to be honest, the thought of you not being around for a month made me feel a little uneasy. Your replies definitely make me feel a lot safer somehow. And I bet I'm not the only one....

I am semi retired and self employed. All my work is sent to me via email. I would no longer have an income if I did go cold turkey on the Internet.

Also I need my daily ‘fix’ of the AF forum.

Nice idea otherwise.

My granddaughter asked me yesterday if I was born in the ‘olden days’. When asked to clarify what she meant she added ‘was everything black & white then?’

Email is a business requirement. Browsing the internet is not. And your granddaughter is right. Many shades of grey then and now. Your granddaughter is the one who needs to be protected by the constant bombardment of social media. I think that only now they are beginning to realise this. Have a good weekend.

haha, my granddaughter always refers to my youth as the black n white days. I'm a photographer and love B&W images. Very popular now so actually, THEY are also in the B&W days !!! Stay well,

Blue :-)

I think very much aimed at the younger generation. Far too many live their lives on the internet and glued to their mobile phones. Try asking them to live a day let alone a month without mobile phone or internet!!!. I use both but in moderation so will not be joining in.

Moderation is key. Enjoy your weekend. But it is frightening when you learn of children in Asia and China attending digital detox schools. Don't want that here. Facebook especially needs to reform. AIMHO (sorry)

Hmmm, let's see. I always check my emails and catch up with the forum here in the morning, I do much of my shopping on line, and I spend an hour or so each evening playing games or reading on my PC. The rest of the time, I'm in the 'real world' either outside in my workshop or even out in the countryside. If the weather's very, very bad, I'll stay in and catch up with some knitting.

No, I don't think I'll change anything, even for just a month.

Sounds like well balanced....certainly no need for detox school.

Bit difficult when in the middle of building a web-site. But I do limit my time on line nowadays as it can become obsessive.

Limiting my time does mean I sometimes miss posts so apologies to anyone’s post I miss and don’t respond to.

I check in here most days in the morning and then I am done for the day. I also recently had a 3 day complete break as I got a bit stressed about something but I think we are old enough to decide for ourselves what we want to do and when.

Mmm.... how do you know what is and not ‘productive’? Is helping someone newly diagnosed by reassuring them productive?

Reassurance is definately a productive aspect here. As a group of people sharing a similar health problem it provides a valuable resource. Hope that your stress was not social media related.
