Hi all,

Do any of you experience head aches? Recently I've been getting headaches as the day goes on. My heart feels like it's thudding too, but not like an AF attack. I feel lousy.

had ablation 4 months ago, have you had ablation

Not had ablation yet. I was diagnosed in May. I was prescribed Bisoprolol 2.5mg, morning dose. My heart is beating slow often also. Lots of ectopic. I feel the thud like every 4 beats.

Yes - turned out I had a PFO - which is atrial septal defect were the hole between the atria doesn’t heal over after birth. About 20% of the population have this condition and it is linked to migraine like headaches and with AF. I found when in AF my sats would dip quite considerably and headache severity increase.

Of course there are lots of other causes and you should always get persistent, severe headaches checked out.

Would that be detectable on an echocardiogram?

Definately not. Sometimes on a echocardiogram or an MRI but mine was not discovered on either and it was only discovered when EP was inside my heart with a catheter.

Mine was seen on an echocardiogram.My GP was dissatified with the cardiology report and sent me back for for an echo.. which had been 'overlooked'.

How interesting about the migraines CDreamer. had my closure fixed c10 years ago and had had migraines of a minor variety for years. The after the closure no more migraines.Never connected the two. Thank you.

This strange occurrence also gets a mention in the ‘Recovering From An Ablation’ factsheet: some people experience a headache or migraine after an ablation as a result of the trans-septal puncture to access the left atria.

Hello !!! Yes I get awful headaches and migraines this hot weather doesn’t help !! Think my bisoprosol 5mg is too high it makes my BP drop and that too causes headaches!!!

I was on 5mg originally. I felt like a zombie. Today I'm counting how much water I drink. The headache always comes mid afternoon. You're right, I can't wait for the weather to cool a little too!

Hello yes I have been getting headaches. Not bad ones just a low level ache as the day goes on. I don't usually get headaches very often so have noticed these. To some extent I put it down to dehydration in this hot weather.

Hi did they lower your bisoprosol?? I’m at hospital tomorrow and I’m going to mention my headaches and tiredness !!! The list goes on 😄

They've not lowered my dose I'm still on 2.5mg Bisoprolol. They want another set of bloods as they think I may have an infection. I doubt the headaches from that.

Here's hoping for a positive outcome for you. I sometimes think the side effects of the meds are as bad as the condition itself. Good luck.

Yes, I've been having these headaches - mainly on the right side. I've also had a slow heart and no energy. I've been relating it to this extreme heat. I've not had nor been offered an ablation.

I'm finding the low heart rate and the clusters premature/missed beats may be contributing to my headaches, and the heat is making it worse.
