Just received a change of appt date for post procedure follow up with EP I had CTI ablation 18.4.18 and appt originally was 7th sept now today I receive a letter and it’s now been moved to 21st December. Surely this cannot be right?

I’ve left msg on his secretary answerphone hoping for a return call hopefully tomorrow
There does appear to be a gradual change in review appointments. Previously, they were generally carried out 3 months after the procedure but this seems to be extending to 6 months and longer and this may be for 2 reasons. It is generally accepted now that it takes 3 to 6 months or even longer for the heart to fully recover and therefore assess the success of the procedure. The second is that the number of ablations is increasing significantly as are the waiting lists and if an EP is doing reviews, obviously they cannot carry out ablations but there is pressure to reduce the waiting period. We
If you are experiencing a problem and have a need to see your EP try contacting the hospital or the local Arrhythmia nurse but if things are going OK the additional wait should not be a problem.....
I share your frustration. Hopefully your GP will be able to get things moving for you but I think I would also be contacting the EP’s secretary to make her aware of what’s going on.....good luck
Just to add to what Flapjack has said I would be more interested in how YOU feel rather than worrying about when you may or may not next see your EP. If you are having problems then of course you should contact the arrhythmia nurse where you had the ablation for advice but other wise I agree with FJ that the longer you wait the better will the EP be able to assess your situation.
My gp feels my meds need a review as I’ve lost lots of weight recently and also I’ve suddenly developed very low blood pressure 77/42 today I’m on Bp monitor this week I see gp Monday for results. He can’t change meds only my EP so he was hoping when I should’ve been going on 7th September EP would re evaluate. But I think gp will need to contact EP himself on this one now. I’ve been very tachycardic too although no flutters which is great! My cardiologist at my local hospital has got me down to see him when he’s heard from EP after follow up appt. so can’t ask him and I’ve got no appt come through for cardiologist neither have I had a follow up pacemaker check since ablation so I hope you can see my frustration! I really feel between a rock & a hard place as the saying goes. I’m not feeling good at all tbh. But thank you for input
This looks very disappointing at first glance, but perhaps it may work in your favour.
Clearly your BP isn't right and now that your review is so far in the future, something needs to be done soon to improve this. Hopefully your GP will now contact your EP for prompt advice. He might have said 'Well, you've a review coming up in a few weeks...'
I think the unwelcome delay might actually move things forward for you. Do let us know what happens.
Awe thanks here’s hoping hey!! I see gp on Monday so I hope he will get things moving very fast from now on.
No my BP is not right it is way too low for my liking I feel too dizzy sick and lightheaded and I passed out on my holidays a couple of weeks ago. My GP has been very good throughout all of this it was me who said I see EP soon etc but I think now GP will need to write to him to get things moving a bit quicker!! I am on 1.5mg bisoprolol daily but been on that a few months now so I wouldn’t imagine that’s caused it at such a low dose. But I don’t know but I’ve never felt so ill as I do at all he moment.
