unexplained bruising
You may have something entirely different but I take rivaroxaban and occasionally get weird, hot and briefly painful, spontaneous little bruises. When I took warfarin I had many more and they worried me at first. I had no joy - quite the reverse in fact - by turning up at Primary Care with one in full technicolour splendour. They don't linger but clear up and disappear in a couple of days.
I have copied and pasted the following and edited it very slightly:
'Paroxysmal hand hematoma (also known as "Achenbach syndrome") is a skin condition characterized by spontaneous focal haemorrhage into the palm or the volar surface of a finger, which results in transitory localized pain, followed by rapid swelling and localized blueish discoloration.
It appears often on the internal surface of the finger and rather under the middle finger or forefinger at the joints of the first or second phalanx
Achenbach's is of unknown etiology, however, it is also not a cause for concern. While it can look sort of awful - the finger turns shades of purple and red and can swell, the condition resolves by itself. '
I was changed from warfarine to Rivaraxaban. Since then I have had increasing joint pain . This really bothers me.
Only occasionally have I had a significant bruise but this is no more than on Warfarine.
No problem with bruising with Rivaroxaban. Feel much better overall than when I was on Warfarin.
