I am on Dabigatron an anti-coagulant alternative to Warfarin. I have now been on it for several years and have always been susceptible to bruising. However during the last couple of years the slightest knock, scrap or just the dog wagging his tail by me bring out severe bruising which for several minutes really hurts and then takes days to fade. I have mentioned it to my EP but his response is "well at least the anti-coagulant is working.
Does anyone else suffer such bad bruising?

Similar post a couple of days ago and same reply from me. Been on warfarin for fifteen years and my wife who is not on any anticoagulant bruises more easily that I do.
I bruise easily but anticoagulation has never been a problem for me, I don’t think I bruise any more or less than I used to. I used to take Dabigatran but changed to Apixaban - because of GI problems not bleeding.
Have been on Warfarin average 2.25mg daily for over 15 years. INR runs typically 2.5 - 3.5 which is the aim range.Get it checked every 2 to 6 weeks depending on result and any adjustment necessary. No problem with excess bruising at all. Regards from UK
Try taking Vitamin C, preferably 'with bioflavanoids' - available from a health food shop. Up to 500mgs or more, twice a day. It does strengthen the arteries.
When I was on Eliquis (apixaban), I had purpura all over the top of my forearms. No doctor found it unusual. I switched to Xarelto (rivaroxaban) last fall. Now, I have little bruises all over my forearms that look like they're a week old and the occasional purpura. Again, no doctor finds this unusual nor of any concern. Sometimes, I wonder if my dosage shouldn't be cut.
