I was first made aware of irregular heart beat when under aesthetic for a Cyst to be removed from my Jaw. I was treated with Soltalol to get me through the operation at a later date. I then went into Bisoprolol but found Atenolol suited me better for a while. I then had two bad episodes about 18 months ago where my heart rate went as high as 160bpm. I was referred to the specialist at Stoke Royal who does Catheter Ablations. This has brought my resting heart rate down to between 70 & 80 Bpm except on occasions it goes up to around 100 Bpm. If this happens I Control it with 25mg Atenolol when needed. So I don’t feel the Ablation as completely cured the problem especially when the weather is hot and Humid as get to feel quite tired at times. But I tend to forget I am 78 next birthday not 28. ??

Raised resting heart rate post ablation is very common and may take up to nine months or more to return to pre ablation levels. So long as it is regular things are better. When did you have the ablation?

Had Ablation just over a year ago. Things been ok until we got this hot humid weather which seems to make me more tired than it used to. But I am 78 next Birthday so could be getting older could have something to do with feeling tired when it’s Hot and Humid ?

I was at Monza in 33degrees heat a few months after my last ablation in 2008 and had HR about 100. It goes with the territory! So long as your rate is regular and you are not in AF all is well.
