I am eight months post ablation and wondering what constitutes a successful ablation. How many people have been AFIB free for years after an ablation.

AFIB free after ablation
Ten years and no anti arrhythmic drugs but I do still get ectopics and occasional tachycardia.. Goes with the territory. Never intend to stop anticoagulation mind.
Thank you so much for your reply. I, too, am still on Eliquis and will be for life, and I have a few PACS and fast runs, but it is so encouraging to hear this from you. I love HealthUnlocked. You guys have been so helpful through my whole AFIB process. I don't say much, but I listen a lot to what everyone says. I will continue to be cautiously optimistic about my ablation success. Doctors do say AFIB always returns.
About 3 and a bit years but when it returned it wasn’t nearly as symptomatic or last as long.
3 1/2 years after 4th ablation. Still on all meds, Bisoprolol, bumetanide, edoxaban.
5 years in November. On apixaban for life.
I've been reading people's posts on ablations, and since most people report that the AF comes back after a while (eg 3 years), I have a BIG question: So if AF is caused by an extra node/s, and ablation destroys the extra node/s, how come the AF keeps returning after ablations?!!!!! Where do the new extra nodes come from? What do your cardiologists tell you about this?
