Pulse rate

So I had a ecg done today before my scan tomorrow then I saw doc straight after and she said my heart rate is or was 53 at that point early this morning and it is kinda low but it’s due to the higher dose of beta blockers I’m on 10mg of bisoprolol 5mg in morning and same at night but they are now saying they think I should cut down my evening one to half as I’m like a zombie all day and don’t become half human TIL lunch time

But last time I cut my morning dose in half I was in hospital by evening coz I didn’t feel right now I’m scared this will happen again the docs know my views and how I feel but again I’m fed up with low heart rate and feeling so shit and tired and all the rest

Hi Coral, suggest you read the paper in the package! Bisoprolol is a 'dirty' drug and any dose adjustments must be done very very gradually. Suggest dropping from 10 to 8.75 initially. Obviously discuss this with your GP but I personally would be very unhappy about dropping from 10 to 5 in one hit.

Good luck,

John

I agree with carneuny about Bisoprolol, it slowed my life down and made me feel breathless, unable to walk any distance, cold feet and hands. My advice would be to ask them to change the drug to another Beta Blocker. I am now eventually on Atenolol and feel like a new woman. I am also recovering from my first Cryoablation and cannot believe how good I feel. Stand your ground and ask for a change. Hope you feel better soon.

They are only asking me to cut my evening one to half so it be to 2.5 not 5mg completely in a day so in total I would be taking 7.5mg in a day instead of 10 I did explain

Try it, but be patient. It may take a few days for your body to adjust to the new level, so you may have a few strange wobbles in that time, but that is not a problem. Within a week you should be fine, and probably feeling much better than you are now. Remember - the fear will make you feel worse. Once you have lost that you will feel better, and, if you make the change, you should feel better also because your heart rate will be just that bit higher. Low heart rate at night can bring on the AF, so decreasing the night dose may decrease the amount of AF you experience, once your body has adjusted.

Yes Coral cutting back a little on bisoporlol should help a little ...still a high dose you are on ..question it ...I myself have halved my 5mg bisoporlol and take it at night..was same as you felt no Q/o/life beginning to feel a little like the world..early days only done that for week ...keep monitoring it see how it goes you know your own body I did it off my own back as trial I believe it is paying off..
