I have found the same thing. I haven't had a heart attack. But I had an afib ablation on Feb. 28. Since then, I have had terrible heartburn and indigestion. I am taking Eliquis, sotalol and lisinopril for my heart, dexilant for reflux, ambien for sleeping and citalopram for anxiety. I had an upper endoscopy and it came out normal. I have a lot of chest pain, especially if I don't watch what I eat or drink any alcohol. Ive been to ER 3 times thinking it was my heart and I keep passing all the tests. It's very frustrating.

I was in hospital today thinking the pain from my throat was related to my heart but nothing showed up so I think I'll try to ignore it in future. It is very painful.

I was put on omeprazole for my continuous acid reflux and it definitely keeps it at bay when all other meds failed. Not sure about long term side effects though but not prepared to put up with reflux as well as all other problems.

Possible side effects are that Proton pump inhibitors are known to reduce the main absorbtion of vitamin b12 via the stomach. Lack of b12 can cause anemia. There are blood tests that check both. I am not a doctor but suspect of you have been on these for a while ( I think the medicine leaflets have a fixed course length indicated) then it is worth getting a blood test done. Or if you start feeling very tired. Loads on the internet on this.

You can take b12 supplements as b12 is absorbed in the intestine but much less efficiently so you need a lot more of it.

I know all this as I was tired after my ablation and was on pradaxa and lansaprazole, the latter as pradaxa can cause acid reflux . My GP sent me for blood tests. The b12 was abnormal but I was not anaemic. So i have to have a repeat test in a few more months .

However as I had never had reflux I stopped taking he lansaprazole and also took b12 supplements. My decision not the GPs .

However it did not improve my tiredness anyway either! So in my case was not the cause.

Thanks I think I'll definitely speak to my gp about this when I next visit. 😀

It is amazing that most doctors still do not know that the normal recommended treatment makes acid reflux worse. Google Dr. Sarah Myhill from Wales and GERD. She explains why you have acid reflux and how to eliminate it. A tablespoon or two of organic apple cider vinegar will stop it. The reason you have it is not because you have too much acid in your stomach, it is because you do not have enough acid. As we age, our production of stomach acid decreases. Or you can Google Dr. John Bergman and he will tell you the same thing as Dr. Myhill.

I get tired of telling people about this as it comes up so often in this forum. I am sure I miss some people's questions about this and they continue to take these harmful drugs. Sad really. It always make me wonder how many recommended drugs are the incorrect remedy; or the side effects from them become a significant problem over time. My friend is trying to ween himself off Metropolol, without his doctor's knowledge, since the side effect of negatively affecting lungs has happened after 5 years of being on the drug. His lung infection could have caused his death but it appears that massive doses of antibiotics may have prevented this. Not sure he has missed the bullet. Still follow up tests to be done.

This website will give you information. You will note apple cider vinegar has lots of other uses and benefits.

Small quantities don't seem to be a problem. All you usually need to take for acid reflux is a tablespoon full with each meal. You may find after taking it for awhile that you need less of it. I take apple cider vinegar capsules with my vitamins in the morning and at night and this seems to do the trick. It eliminates the need to remember to take a spoonful with meals. I take the manufacturer below but there are many other choices as well. If I do have an occasional episode of acid reflux, then I take a spoonful.

Natural Factors, Apple Cider Vinegar, 500 mg, 180 Capsules
