Af treatment
Hi and welcome. There are so many variables with AF that everyone is different. Many people live with persistent or permanent AF - if your CV failed to convert you, even for a few seconds, the. It is most likely you will have permanent AF - ie it cannot be converted. The Apixaban is to reduce the risk of stroke induced by AF and the Bisoprolol a beta- blocker to control heart rate - which it seems to be doing if your HR is at 80.
May I suggest you visit the AFA site for information on all things AF.
Have you seen a specialist cardiologist - or Electrophysiologist? If not, it may be worth while getting an opinion from the experts and to have tests such as echocardiogram to screen and rule out any underlying cardiac problems.
Many people here on this forum are in persistent and permanent AF and maybe able to offer more advise but from what I can gather, your body gets used to the condition and many find it is not as symptomatic as PAF - paroxysmal AF.
Best wishes.
Agree with CDreamer. I am in permanent AF for two years i live a full life with very few restrictions. My HR is controlled with Bisoprolol and Apixaban for stroke protection. I personally find being in persistant AF much easier to live with than PAF was. I have stopped chasing the holy grail that is NSR.
I might ask why you were not tried with an anti arrythmia drug at the same time as cv as I was told it makes success more likely.
Hi was tired before cv but afterwards after it failed I wasn’t as tired even do a extra day at work !!! I still take beta blocker 5mg and apixiban
