Hi jasmir. Are you in the US? or UK? If in the US we don't have to buy the coagucheck machine. It is loaned to us. The company makes their money from the test strips, lancets by billing our insurance with a small copay from the patient. Here all it takes to initiate using this system is an order from your cardiologist/electrophysiologist. Then you have a one-time visit from a nurse practitioner to demonstrate proper usage. Not sure how much the coagucheck machine costs but from reading posts on this forum in the UK you must buy one. My guess is it would also require a doctor's order also but not sure. Hopefully someone can answer this for you. I used one for several years and only stopped recently as I am no longer taking coumadin/warfarin. But while I did take anticoagulants I loved being able to check my own INR's and not having to trek to the coumadin clinic. Also I could keep a tighter rein on my numbers by checking weekly or when I felt it necessary. Good luck using the system. Take care. irina

Hello Jasmir, if you are in UK you can buy direct from Coagucheck UK £299 + vat. If have you have a lifelong condition, you are available with supporting documentation to waive vat. In the UK you can get the strips on prescription, the lancets are cheap to buy yourself. I have a machine myself , very easy to use and I calibrate it with my coagulation clinic every 6 months.
