Ablation successful so far, is it normal to have louder heart beat after a Ablation.

Thanks

How do you mean louder? Can you hear it in your ears. I think that is quite common. Faster yes. usually about 20. to 25 up on previous which may take some months to settle down again.

Keep resting/.

Hi Bob,

No its not in my ear, and it's not fast just under 60 beats a min, i can count pulse just siting still and listening

I expect you are just more sensitive to your heartbeat now it's steady and in rhythm........

For me it was a bit psychological I think. When I first got AF I suddenly became very aware of my heartbeat. It seemed to pound away, especially at night time, even though it was in rhythm. I slowly became less aware of it over time.

Then after my ablation I noticed it again most nights. Again, I've stopped noticing it now. Or it's got quieter or I've managed to block it out subconsciously.

My heart rate itself was back down to its usual ~60 bpm within a few hours of the ablation, and I've barely had an ectopic since.

Hi higgy 52. Had ablation seven weeks ago and mine is much louder too especially at night so presume its common :-)

Pleased you’re doing so well.

It’s great to hear positives: my ablation was cancelled a couple of weeks ago and is now scheduled for the 4th. I was pretty chilled last time but all this waiting and a run of questioning posts is causing me to spend too much time dwelling on the pros and cons. I should probably stay away from the forum but generally find it a great place for support and information.

I was very aware of my HB after my original ablation. It passed; one day I realised I wasn’t hyper aware of it any longer.

:-)

Good luck when you have it done, just look foward to getting it done and out the way

Yes you are probably more aware of H/R and odd sensations in that area. This will pass believe me.

Where you in permanent AF previously? Perhaps if you were then the heart is now pumping properly so it is a bigger think??? I have only recently had an ablation and I am very aware of my heart beat but thought that the awareness is because it is doing 62 per minute rather than the 140 before. The only other time I noticed my heart rate previosly was when it was very out of rhythm but not going fast which was only transient with me before it shot off to 140 to 180 resting at which time I could not feel anything.

Either way, personally I am very happy I can feel it beating slow and regular!!!

Cheers

Was in persistent, but before my first Ablation it was permanent, was similar to you when it goes really high you don't notice it and now it's slow i notice it's pumping well,

Good luck
