Good morning all. Had my 3 month post (3rd) ablation check up yesterday and have been discharged and told to stop taking my Edoxaban. I turn 65 in October so my current Chadsvasc score is 0. One interesting thing is that my resting heart rate has gone from 50 to 65. Anyone else had this happen?

Raised resting heart rate is common post ablation and may take up to nine months to return to pre procedure levels. Mine did.

Strangely my HR was fine from about 2 weeks following my ablation, then at 9 months it went stratospheric, its gone from 55 to 85 on bisoprolol and when i forgot a dose it went up to 105 at rest , probably would have gone higher if i hadn't taken my bisoprolol when i realised what had happened

Mike that sounds like the ablation has failed. Have you seen your EP?

in reply toStinky1953

That's what I think too.

I called my EP and he referred me back to my GP.

I've had an ECG that showed nothing, now waiting for a 24 hour monitor.

Mine too - resting heart rate went from mid 60s ish to mid 80s ish. Took almost a year to get back to near normal.

My resting HR has been about 10bpm higher since my ablation 7 months ago. Also, my maximum HR (exercising hard) has been about 10bpm lower. In between, my HR seems quite similar to before.

A clinical study on heart rate after ablation shows that in at least the medium term the heart rate does not go back down. The study also showed increased resting HR wass a good prognostic factor for success of the ablation.
