So today marked my 12 month anniversary of my gp/af ablation with Sabine Ernst at the Royal Brompton

Yesterday was an early start on the bus to London for my battery of tests, first up at 1:30pm was my exercise stress test, which I did very well on, reaching level 6 of the 7 levels, around 17 minutes in total out of a max of 21.... other than a few missed beats which they said weren’t of any concern they were happy, even though I wasn’t as I felt I had another minute or so left in the tank, but they stopped the test because the ecg pads had fallen off

Up next was my echo, which showed everything’s fine I questioned my “low normal” ejection fraction and upper normal right ventricle size but was told stop worrying as they’re normal and fine.... I’ll still worry and google no doubt...

Then I’ve been fitted with a holter monitor, to wear for 5-7 days, I’ve never had one like this before it’s called carnation monitor, no wires or pads just one strip in middle of chest with small chip, amazing little thing, Dr Ernst said my missed beats were ventricular and not related to any work she’d done, but would look at the monitor to see, but said unless they’re in the thousands then they’re fine and not to worry.

Lastly I have sleep apnoea which I’ve been using cpap for the last year, when diagnosed I was having 15 episodes per hour which was borderline mild/moderate in the scale, since then I’ve lost two stone in weight so was interested to see my results... once again I had a new little device that looked like a watch fitted, the results were...... 8 episodes per hour... a significant reduction, still classed as mild as they score 0-5 as normal 5-15 as mild.... however I was very happy with this, and with a bit more weight loss I could be free of the cpap.

So my meeting today with Sabine was brief, as she’s very busy but the outcome was I’m discharged, taken off apixaban and if I need any further treatment then just call her secretary

Yes however when they took it today it was 78, so maybe anxiety is causing a lot of my issues

Brilliant news. I remember someone posted on here about the trial with doctor Ernest and that they were looking for people. well done for going for it these trials help us all. Glad its all gone so well.

12 months? flown by! I also have 'mild' SA, 8 events an hour which they don't plan to treat. I'm 8.5 stone. Must admit it concerns me a little, hope it doesn't restart my AF, 15 months free since ablation 2, would like to be rid of it completely. Well done to you.
