After my yearly ECG in the surgery I was told I had AT and put on Warfarin last summer. I was already on Bisoprolol having been told I had developed heart failure 5yrs ago. I read about AF episodes, what exactly do they feel like??. I frequently feel a laboured rusty purring in my chest, does anyone else get that sensation I sometimes feel a quicker heart beat. Tomorrow 29th March I am 80 yrs Cheers everyone. Xxx
My heart of my anxiety.: After my... - Atrial Fibrillati...
My heart of my anxiety.
Happy birthday for tomorrow, enjoy your special day. We all get many varied sensations and weird feelings it's difficult to identify with them all and put a name to them but I guess they are all part of the strange condition called arrhythmia people here suffer with.
You are in good company we all understand the vagaries of these strange feelings.
Guess you mean AF and not AT Gladaven, a fast or sometimes slow irregular heartbeat that can normally be felt by checking your pulse. It effects different people in different ways and many don’t feel very much at all. If it’s not causing you any real problems I wouldn’t worry too much, but it is important to take your medication, especially the warfarin.
Hope you have a great day tomorrow, let’s hope the sun shines!
Happy birthday for tomorrow.
AF is a bit individual, but in my case, I get very fast, erratic beats, mostly uncountable, but thankfully only for a few seconds. My chest can often feel heavy and uncomfortable, and I get breathless too. I have something called Left Bundle Branch Block and ectopic beats too! I’m on warfarin and Nebivolol. I tried Apixaban, but for me, not good, however lots take it no problems.
If you’re functioning well, and your heart is coping, well done!
I suffer badly from anxiety and fear, my sensations don't last for too long. Sometimes I feel a dull thud, thud, thud worse when laying on my left side. I wondered what other people felt Thanks for your good wishes. Glad.xx,
happy birthday! I have very frequent bouts of AF, and mine feels like a great big bird trying to flap its way out of my chest, or two boxers having a fight! Horrible feeling, makes me breathless and dizzy. I absolutely hate it. I think AF affects people in different ways.
Thank you so much for your kind reply, I am sorry that your sensations seem so nasty so often, have they gone worse with time. My doctor has provided me with the Bisoprolol and Warfarin which I am taking as strictly ordered. She does want to see me for 3month periods but I am still worried about this horrible strange condition that has hit me, I guess it must have come with age, perhaps I should never have smoked as I also get a bit breathless if I rush now. I do admire your attitude and wonder how you cope so well. Do have a restful Eastertide, thanks for your well wishes. I am looking forward to a lovely ELVIS tribute weekend treat with my family. Cheers Gladys. xx.
I think the AF is kind of like palpations but I am unsure I only woke up in hospital to find I was all wired up, and straight away put on Warfarin and that was 2013 I count myself lucky that they found it - and saved me a little longer.
Happy Birthday! My a fib feels like my heart is dong flip flops but it is different for others and some dont feel anything.
Happy birthday, Gladie! 🌟🎉
Hope you have a wonderful day and weekend, untroubled by AF, or anxiety, or any other nasties. Your incredibly clever and intricately made heart has looked after you all this time and it won’t let you down. Hope you can relax and enjoy every moment! 💝
Happy Birthday! Af is a strange beast with many variations. It is most important that you are anti coagulated, which I see you are. When I get an AF episode,I have a 'lurching' heart sensatiin,as if i have been given bad news, followed by a sense of doom, then as you describe, purring beats.Have you discussed this with your medical practitioner? It may be a good idea to do so,as there are medications and alternatives that are helpful if yiu have AF.
Best wishes
Thank you for your good wishes your sensations seem very similar as mine. Have you suffered from AF for very long? Cheers Gladys xx.
Hi Gladaven, I was on Warfarin but was put on Apixaban and Amiodorone prior to having a Cardio version and am glad to say I have had no problems since. I hated Warfarin and was always having to have check ups because my levels were always all over the place, you don't have to have check up on Apixaban but it is more difficult to stop the bleeding so they say. Good luck I am 77 years old.
