Hi and looking forward to learning from this site. Scheduled for first ablation in two weeks for a fib. Been on Flecainide since 2005 and now having break through beats. Also had pacemaker insertion due to slow rate from Toradol. Nervous about procedure and outcome. Thank you for any input.

First ablation scheduled
It's natural to be nervous, but the procedure isn't too bad. There are lots of posts in the forum about how people have felt post ablation.
Main advise is to rest for at least two weeks following, no matter what your EP says!
If you search ablation and recovery in the facility top right you will find a lot of information. I have had three since 2006 and no AF the last 9+ years and in my view root canal dentistry is far worse.
One piece of advice is to take with you a small bag with such as phone and charger. lip salve and a sports type drinking bottle as you will have to lay flat for some hours after the procedure. Make sure that you have somebody to take you home and look after you for the first few days , no lifting (other than TV remote) and if you are still working then explain to your firm that recovery can be quite open ended despite what your doctor may tell you. It takes three to six months for full recovery and lots can feel worrying during that time. Make sure that you have a phone number for your arrhythmia nurse or EP's secretary in case you need to ask about anything that worries you.
Now relax.
