Afib and accupuncture?

Has anyone tried accupuncture? A friend of mine told me that it might help relieve some symptoms of Afib. But I've been too nervous to try it. I found this link.

Don't be nervous. I have tried it and it does not hurt. My acupuncturist was very careful, as I have a flighty metabolism that reacts very quickly to any kind of alternative therapy. Ask around for a recommendation and explain you are nervous. It is a very tried and tested therapy and may well help with symptoms.

I tried it.

First, it is totally pain free. Secondly, it does help for some things and it can be very relaxing but I'm not sure that it helps AF. I think it's more use in the treatment of pain and things muscular.

I tried acupuncture when I was first diagnosed with AF, it did nothing to stop or change the AF. A year later I tried it again just hoping that it might help me feel a little better, what I noticed almost immediately was that I had more energy. I now go at least once a month. Good luck finding an acupuncturist and enjoy it.

Do you remember what parts of the body they stuck the needles in?

I did try it for AF over several weeks and it didn't prevent attacks. I did find though that it relaxed me.

Acupuncture has not altered my Afib, but it does help with energy for me tremendously.

Before starting acupuncture I would suggest looking for good clinical trial results which show efficacy.

I have only seen a few studies of acupuncture (in different diseases), but all have failed to show any efficacy.

As with any therapist go to one recommended who you feel comfortable with. I went to the son of some friends. I felt wonderful after the first session but really dreadful after the next one and would not return. Good Luck! It might work better than what the straight medics have to offer which is not great.

I know someone who definitely recommends acupuncture for afib as he says it works for him. He is 74 and a musician (actually someone very well known but I won't say his name) - the reason I stated this info is we know the type of stress his body must go through, and he believes it helps him a lot. I haven't tried it yet.
